Q: what am i doing wrong?

It has taken me 6 hours to get Grace to go to sleep in her bassinet!! i am soooooooo worn out right now!!

She would fall asleep in my arms no worries but as soon i would put her down her dummy falls out of her mouth as she starts up!!

Weired thing is that as soon as i picked her up she would stop crying, her eyes wide open and seems very content.

I really dont want to get into a habit of her having tobe held for her to go to sleep.

Am i doing anything wrong?

has anyone got any suggestions on how i can fix this before she get too acustom to it?

Grace might be like Suzy's Kristen was...Kristen was the same way, if I recall, and Suzy was at her wit's end. As it turns out, Kristen just had to sleep on her belly. I know that's a scary concept, but I was a belly sleeper and 16 years later I'm still here!

Jaylon is almost 10 months and we still hold him until he falls to sleep, but we love doing it and everyone laughs that he'll be 15 and still rocked to sleep. LOL Smile It takes them about 20 minutes to get into a deep sleep. If we layed him down any time before that he would wake.
He was also a belly baby. I know it's said to be a big "no no" now, but like the above poster said, she was put to bed on her belly. 16 years ago it was a huge "no no" to put babies on their back.

I do understand and can relate to your frustration. Good luck!

Cheyenne was the same way. We put her on her belly once when she was about 3 weeks old, we haven't had this trouble since. *knocks on wood*

Oni was a belly sleeper too. If I even attempted to lay her on her belly...that was IT!

As long as they're no extra padding/blankets, she'll be FINE!!

Courtney was the same now she either falls asleep on you or on her own. But we find that when we want her to go to sleep we put her in her cot and give her her dummy and then put on her cot musical toy and then she would fall asleep on her own. I also found that if had too much sleep in the day then it would take a while for her to go to sleep at night.

okay so i came on while graces bottle was warming up and read all your suggestions about putting her on her tummy. Once i fed her, burped her etc i held her for about 10 minutes so she could have a look around then i put her to bed on her tummy. She wiggled around abit but as soon as i put her dummy in her mouth she got comfy and fell asleep!!! is it ok for her to have her dummy in her mouth while on her tummy?

Only problem is now that i am checking her every 5 minutes to make sure she is breathing. I'm so pathetic!!LOL

oh by the way....she slept for almost 6 straight hours after my post last night! Poor thing must have been exhausted!!

thanks ladies for your help!!

its actualy better with the paci because it puts her nose and mouth away from the matress and it mekes her easier to wake up or soething like that

Glad you got some sleep.
I dare say that there are many mothers on here that check their kids that are much older than Grace. I am one of them.
I agree with Alicia about the paci. The sucking helps with SIDS too, or so I've heard

Sucking helps to prevent SIDS because it keeps the infant doing something. Their little bodies spend the time invested in sucking and don't forget to breathe.

see, all you had to do was ask! Let's hope she likes you tummy from now on and does it every night! (sry if I jinxed it Embarassed )

SIDS still kinda confuses me, I always thought they suffocated because they didn't know to turn their head to breathe. There's just so many 'no-no's that seem to fade because turns out, the professional were wrong! who knows who to trust anymore...

i'm too scared to put her on her tummy at night while i'm asleep!!

i've wrapped her up and put her on her side tonight! seems to be working as long as her dummy doesnt fall out!!

Kaylee's 15 months old & I still check her a few times a night to make sure she's breathing! I'm getting better with it though Embarassed Laughing
