I have always been told I was too young to get colon cancer. I am a big time hypochondriac and I need more answers. I am 13 years old. I do have stomach problems every once and a while, but nothing serious. Colon cancer does not run in my family. Am I too young to get it? Please reply! Thank you!

Ps. I ask this because i've been having abdominal pain lately. Its not really pain, its just like muscle aches and rumbling noises.

Yes you could get it but the likelyhood of you getting it is very slim. Don't worry about it. I have severe stomach disorders and have never developed any kind of cancer.

Caitie,
wow me and u seem to be a lot alike...Im a total hypochondriac when it comes to that stuff...I get soo worried about things that I begin to believe it when theres absolutely no possibility that it could be true! As for u being too young to get it, anybody can get it....But dont stress urself out if ur getting some pains here and there....Im only 16 and have had intestinal problems for most of my life, but just realized it about 3 years ago...Its a struggle everyday, but im doing it...But please dont worry, and if u cant stop worrying( like me), have ur mom take u to ur regular doctor, and if they cant help u, go have a gastroenterologist check u out( thats a doctor who specializes in ur intestines, colon, all the way up to ur thyroid) they did wonders for me...Best of luck and if u need any help or advice about this, dont be afraid to ask!

You Are Never Too Young For Anything
I am 19 years old, and when I was 14 I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. As if that was not hard enough to live with, I just got out of the hospital two weeks ago. My problem? I went into the hospital with lower stomach pains, and after a bunch of tests were run, the docs decided to do an exploratory surgery to get a better look of things. When they got in they found I had a large tumor. In the end, I had part of my colon and bladder removed as well as a complete hysterectomy. I have not been to a doctor yet that has seen someone as young as me with colon cancer. I am hoping to find younger people who have or have had this type of cancer. So, no, you are never too young for cancer, arthritis, or anything. If you feel like you need to go to the doctor, go. Don't wait. I walked around with cancer for who knows how long, and when it was finally found, it was a stage iii. I am thankful they feel they got all of the tumor, but I still have to go through chemo and radiation.

If anyone would like to talk, just let me know!

Hey
Hey, well... Your not to young to get it.. But my mom had it.. And they told her that the average age for colon cancer is close to 50's... Maybe a lil younger, maybe a lil older.. But 13.. I think the chances are very slim.
