Hi. Sorry for taking so long to respond - my life isn't stress free either as you can see... just so much stuff going on that I don't even have time post on here as much anymore.
Anyway - the symptoms you described can be anxiety, and in your case of getting back in the work force and starting to drink alcohol again... that is probably what it is. You need to take a time out and think about things...
I would recommend that you sit down and try to figure out what is currently bothering you and try to see what you can do to make it better. That is usually a good start. The next thing to do would be to try to calm down and relax as much as possible. Stuff like prayer and meditation work. Medications do too, but only temporarily - and in your mind you should NEVER solely rely on medication to fix your problems. You can also read some books on anxiety and panic attacks - they will help you view your anxieties as less threatening - and will even help you view them as necessary elements of life. A good book to check out is called "From Panic To Power" by Linda Bassett (I'm not sure if I wrote her name correctly). And another book to read, and is actually a MUST READ, is called "Power vs. Force" by David R. Hawkins. Those readings will transform your views on anxiety and life in general - and in term will make you feel great on a daily basis, because you won't have anxiety causing thoughts anymore.
Treating problems like yours are not easy, and require a lot of time, discipline, desire, and dedication. Start now. Think about where you want your life to be, and start consciously changing your thoughts, words, and actions on a daily basis in order to meet that goal of yours.
Anxiety is nothing more than just a warning signal that tells you something in your life isn't going smoothly. Listen to it, and act upon it.
Hope that helped.
