Q: spotting on Seasonique

I've done a little research on my Birth control pill, seasonique, which I've had for about a year now. And just last Thursday ( Jan. 10) I noticed I was spotting. Just small portions of blood in my discharge when I wipe. Nothing heavy or anything. But I"m just curious if this is normal to be spotting after having Seasonique for so long. I know it says that one of the side effects is spotting, but does that mean just at the first few months of taking it or through out the ENTIRE time of taking the pill. And if that is normal, then how long does spotting last? Or should it be something I would be concerned about? baffle

Seasonique - Spotting
Talked to my family doctor, he didn't say much other then to keep taking my pills for awhile. I'm still bleeding and it's been like this since last thursday, the 10th of Jan. I on go through two tampons a day, one during the day and then one at night, normally the medium sized ones. They don't fill up completely. I don't mean to be so open, but since I've posted no one has said anything but viewed. Maybe this bit of information wil help. PLEASE someone reply to me.

Extremely eHealthy
Anytime a woman uses a pill that skip periods, she is at risk for some spotting and bleeding occasionally. As annoying as it is, it is normal.

It is MOST likely to happen when women take the pill at a later time than usual, or use certain RX drugs or herbal supplements. (These can lower the hormone amounts in the blood)

There are women who always skip periods, and they will have some odd spotting maybe 2-3 times a year, here and there.

I used to take Seasonale and yes I would have break through bleeding from time to time. It's completely normal and much more likely to happen while on Sesonale/Sesonique. I found that if took it at the same EXACT time everyday, the bleeding was less likely to occur.

I started taking Seasonique a month ago and have had constant spotting the whole time it seems like a waste... i mean i took it to not have a period i expected some spotting but this is getting ridiculous! Especially with having cramps still!

OMG I thought it was something wrong with me. I've been bleeding for like two weeks now and it sucks because I'm working at a camp with high schoolers and I get so moody with them! Embarassed

I started Seasonique one month ago, and I also have spotted EVERY day. I was wondering if your situation ever resolved itself, or it you had to change BC pills???
THANKS

Experience with spotting after 5 months
I've been on it for 5 months now. Spotted, not heavy like my normal period, the ENTIRE first month. Then it stopped-the doctor, who I trust and is very good, says spotting is totally normal and every woman reacts differently. Recently I started spotting again, with even small clots after sex, and I believe the other posts are correct-I used to take it at EXACTLY the same time every night, but recently have been late just a few hours some nights. My doctor said this is probably why I am spotting again, and if I go back to being rigid about taking it at the same time, spotting will stop.
The spotting experiences posted here seem like normal adjustment to Seasonique based on everything my doc told me, but I'm not a doctor. If you're really concerned, (and usually you know in your gut when something's wrong) go get a checkup. Health isn't something you should ignore. You're messing with your hormones and occasional bleeding is normal, which may make you more easily ignore the signs that something is really wrong.
