Q: switching bcp brands

I'm thinking about switching my bcp brands, I didn't know until recently that if you're still spotting between periods after about the first 3 months then it's not working as effectively.

How long do I have to wait to start a new brand pack? Like a week or month? Or do I just start where the last left off, or at my usual beginning of a new pack?

I have problems with severe cramps, I missed one pill last month causing me doubled over in pain for that period, almost like I was before I was on the pill.

WHO told you that??

Spotting and bleeding have nothing to do with effectiveness, and everything to do with how the hormones affect your uterus.

It is good to start a new pack after you finish your period week on the old brand pack.

I agree- it doesn't mean it's not effective (you're not gonna get pregnant because you're bleeding)

but if you're so miserable, you can switch. Just start a new pack when you would've started the old one, after your period.
