Hello Carrie my friend,
As I read through your post I had this
feeling of compassion, saddness, and not
wanting to belive what has happened to
your L-1 and T-12 and that you will now
need surgery.
And yet Carrie, your attitude of
acceptance, hope and faith lifted me up,
as you have lifted up so many here at
EHealth.
Carrie, you are so blest to have a most
wonderful friend, Linndie.
My thoughts and prayers are and will be
with you. God will take your hand and see
you through this to a better day.
When you are able we will look forward to
your posts.
MANY gentle BEAR HUGS!!!

Options for compression fractures:
kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, corpectomy,
fusion with supporting rods, conservative
non-surgical therapy, grey ramus
communicans radiofrequency neurotomy. The
surgeon will be able to sort these out
depending on the degree of retropulsion
(bone fragments sticking into the spinal
canal)

Wonderful to meet you! Posted: 01-24-08 04:40am
Needless to say, I am scared to death and
any legal information on you side would be
appreciated. I worked Ortho in the
hospital but is a whole different ball of
wax when one is on the other side of the
fence. I will treasure any input you have
pre and post OP. Last labs I had done
(MRSA) white could was in normal limits.
And CMP came back fantastic. My chemical
balance is the only good thing I have
going right now with the help of some
thyroid meds and others.
Thanks again,
Carrie
Rich, thanks for everything. You are
always there for me. Hope in another 10+
years I can still have your faith and
attitude. PM and let me know where you and
you wife live please.

Good Morning Carrie,
It was so very nice to see your post. To
know that you are hanging in there.
"Hope in another 10+ years I can still
have your faith and attitude." Yes, I'll
be here, with the same "faith and
attitude".
I will send you a PM shortly.
Just having you post today answered one of
my prayers.
Just noticed you posted at 4:40 am. Well,
I finally got to bed at that time. I
installed a new amplifier in my stereo
system Tuesday evening, and now need to
break it in to make sure it is working
well. Best time for listening is from
11pm and on into the morning. I'll catch
up with a few naps today.
Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Surgical fusion and discectomy Posted: 01-26-08 11:38am
Can anyone tell me if this surgery really
helps and if it is only for a short time
or extended time for relief?
I am post poning it after reading about
all the negative reactions after surgery.
I am scared. I have my daily living mited
by pain. My cervical and lumbar spine both
have nerve impingement. I also don't have
private insurance and feel that is
limiting my choices of treatment. I hate
being in pain and also hate not being able
to do everyday things. Need some advise
please.

I am not saying this person is not a neuro
MD. Juat that I after the years I have
become very suspisious of people that come
on board portraying to be someone they are
not. Just to be looking of recogintion. It
sometimes seems to be the case of no self
esteem symdrome. Afraid not to be excepted
if they are themselves.
I sure am glad I am me and you all know
who I am. I protray no one that I am
really not. Yes, I do have 23 years under
my belt in most medical fields. But, am a
novice when it comes to home care and
recovery time etc.....I just took care of
them and sent them home. Now that I am on
the other side of the fence, I am getting
a full picture of what it is like. And I
don'nt like it one bit. Just wish I would
hear from neuro surgeon office at least to
get the ball rolling.
You just have to watch for underlaying
tips. Rich asked her for some advice for
me and she never replied back. That tells
me something.

Completely understand what u r saying
Carrie! I am sorry u r in such pain and i
hope will soon get the help to alleviate
your suffering. i also suffer with neck
pain but thankfully not everyday. There
is nothing wrong with asking an MD for
information as i have in my previous
post--however AL has not been forthcoming
with the info--- so i do not know what to
think-- is usually johnny-on the -spot.
Everyone should just be careful and not
assume things--if u want advice from an md
click at the top of the page to contact
one of this sites screened and licensed
MDS. Peace--love--Prayers--Bobbette

I don't know you,Carrie, but I can tell
you are a great girl just by the way you
talk. Take Bobbettes advise. I know for a
fact that she is a nurse and has been for
over 20 years. She is my best friend for
the last 30 and was in med school
then..She can be trusted to be forthright
and honest to a fault with you.
Good luck, sweetheart.

Carrie, you have made a very good point.
May I suggest that you call your doctor on
Monday so that you don't have to sit and
wait and wonder. I call my doctors and
speak with them directly. Yes, they are
busy, but they do call me back that day or
the next.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rich T: I plan on calling him at 9:00am
tomorrow morning. My son taked to him
twice on the phone on Frideay night but,
that was of a medication problem with
medicaid. We had to go pay full price for
10 pills cause medicade never call my
neuro office back with an overide for it.
Grrrrr. Fed up with medicaid. These pain
pills are $198.00 for 120 of them.
And thank-you homerx for you well wishes.
I know you mean them.
Bobette, then you know where I a coming
from being in the field also. We alway
have to be cautious of what we say and how
we say it. Or there goes our Lic or Cert.

Hello Mcbrid,
Welcome to this forum.
You are asking a question that many of us
have wondered about. Some that have/are
posting here have had successfull
surgeries and recoveries to this point in
time. Both surgeries at laser spine
instututes and at facilities using
traditional techniques.
May I suggest that you get ready to read a
"book" and go through the Laser Spine
Surgery thread. Yes, there are differing
points of view. But no more so than with
traditional spinal surgery. There is a
lot of "food for thought" on the thread.
It has taken me several months to come to
a decision which I feel is best for me.
Spine surgeons tell me my back is all
messed up. Yet, only two of six
recommended surgery. My Pain Management
doc has been fantastic. First epidural
injection was the end of last April and
that eliminated the pain and tingling in
my right leg. August had another epidural
injection to reduce lower back pain. Am I
free of pain? No, but only a a 0-2 pain
level. Can I do everything I want to do?
No. Standing for 1-2 minutes will cause
bad lower back pain. And no sitting on
uncomforable chairs. Yes, I have made
some changes to my life. Each has to make
their own decision. My decision - I will
keep the knife as far away from me as I
can and for as long as I can. I have too
much gardening I want to do, and still can
do.
And does surgery guarantee no pain? No.
In fact for some the pain is much worse.
And then there is the MRSA infection
concern I have.
The good Lord has blessed me well, no
complaints.
I(we) will be most interested in your
thoughts after reading the posts on the
LSS thread and other threads.
Do stay in touch and let us know how
things go for you.
Take care.

You said " I sure am glad I am me and you
all know who I am". Well, aren't you the
same gal that posted to the COPD message
boards last year with serious breathing
problems? Then didn't I see you post on
the MS boards with a dx of that disease?
Isn't your mother dying of lung cancer?
You seem to have so many things seriously
wrong and so many different names Zoey,
New Life, Skychild, Skye and now Carrie
again. My heart goes out to you.
