Uric acid meter ? Posted: 01-15-08 00:05am
Instead of always going to a doctor or
clinic, I'd like to monitor my uric acid
level by myself. I think I would then be
able to monitor the efficacy of whatever
gout treatment I take. Also, it would be a
warning if I start eating or drinking
something that raises the UA level.
Where can I buy a blood uric acid meter? I
googled for it but have not found anything
in the US. I found a website in England
and another in India that sell them, but
nothing domestically. It's kind of
strange.
Has anybody found a source for these
meters?

Read a MB post years back that the
poster's UA meter gave him wild readings.
Also read a report that the accuracy of a
UA meter is OK. The problem seems to
indicate the blood samples obtained from
finger pricking is causing the problem.
Maybe that's why UA meters aren't popular
and readily available. Lost track of
where to buy one.
