Q: Abdominal Pain While Eating

About a week ago, I started having sharp pains in the upper center part and slightly right of my abdomen when I swallow food. Drinking is especially painful, sometimes the pain also goes into my back. They are treating me for acid reflux, but next week they will be doing an ultrasound for the gallbladder. Has anyone else had these type of symptoms? I can't find anything like this, and my symptoms don't seem to be like their diagnosis.

Question would appreciate any help. Thanks

Possible Gallbaldder Problems
Yes.....Both my husband and I lost our gallbladder (along with 4 neighbors) due to bad water. It occured after we ate fatty meals or more then normal. Easy ways to tell is to eat cheesy foods as they contain fatty content. Another thing is we were both undiagnosed for almost two years as ultra sounds may or may not pick up the problem. Since your body passes the stones and then scars the best test is the ink test that they use as an alternative for bone scans. My gallbladder was taken out at 1.2% of normal working condition. If the doctors waited much longer it could have erupted. The pain was normally in the center but shot up. Sometimes felt like something crawling in my stomache trying to get out. It normally took 4-6 hours to pass and then it would not happen for days to weeks. Good luck would hate for someone else to go through that pain.

I had gallbladder problems and all sonagram I had done came back normal(10 years ago). I took 5 years to get dx I finally found a dr that did a hidascan (sp?) which takes pictures of the gallbladder and injects some medicine that causes the gallbladder to contract and it reproduced the pain (i was so happy ). Had it removed 3 days later and have not had problems since. Good luck
