Q: Double Stroller

Will I need a double stroller?
They'll be 20 months apart. We do go places often. Jesse thinks I'm being silly, but I'm not letting Ava walk at less than 2 years old. It would take years to get where we're going and she'd run off. He says to use her umbrella stroller for her and the big stroller for the baby. What if I go somewhere by myself??

If you have one, which one do you recommend?
I'm starting to panic. I also need another crib, bedding set, dresser, etc.
I'm flipping out, but I'm trying not to panic until I find out the sex. There's nothing I can do until then.

I'm a very organized person and I always have my ducks in a row and I just feel panicked all of a sudden b/c I will have a baby in 24 weeks and I'm not prepared yet.
I was packing up Ava's clothes today, but I'm not putting it too far in case it's a girl.

Anyway, yeah about the stroller....

I've never looked into them. Are they expensive compared to a single stroller? If not, I would say to go ahead and buy one. I'm sure you'll get some use out of it. And I agree, if you are out by yourself with the kids you don't want to worry about pushing two strollers or carrying Ava.

Do you have an appt scheduled for your u/s yet? You're almost half way there, that is crazy!

Call me crazy, but depending on where we are, I let Oni walk.

At first she REFUSED to hold my hand. But now she realizes "freedom = holding hands occasionally".

I only make her hold my hand if we're in the parking lot, or in a big crowd!

My mom wanted to get me a double stroller. And I realllly wanted one. ESP for Mardi Gras times.

But, try now to start letting her walk instead of being strapped down...a couple months makes a WORLD of a difference!!

A few weeks ago we had to run in the mall to just go to Motherhood b/c I needed a shirt. Well I told Jesse since we were just going in and out he could just hold her. He put her down in the store and she ran around screaming ''mama''. She run under the racks, pulled the bras down. She ever ran behind the register. It was funny, but won't be funny when I'm alone with her and a baby. lol

i'm getting a sit n stand stroller. those are the ones with the normal seat in front for the baby and the platform on the back where finn can sit or it can fold up and he can stand on a lower platform and hold on. i'm also getting one of those animal backpacks with the tail that's a leash (for lack of better term) so he can walk when he wants to.

are you really getting a second crib? have you thought about a toddler bed for ava?

Betsy, have you looked into something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Joovy-Caboose-Stand- Tandem-Stroller/dp/B000SB05A6/ref=sr_1_21? ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=120026 6435&sr=1-21

It's not as huge and bulky as a traditional double stroller, but it's got a place behind the seat where Ava can stand or sit, depending on what she wanted to do. Plus, it's got a carseat adapter, so you'd be able to put the new baby's carseat on it and use it.

we have a double stroller..
this one...

Its nice.. when we got it, it was $180.. Its sorta hard to push around places like the grocery store and such. I LOVE how it keeps the kids occupied tho.. its got a little steering wheel and stuff for Jacob, and when we used to walk walks around the park in Orlando, Caitlyn LOVED looking at everything and waving at ppl lol.

Its nice tho.. The side by side ones are too wide and don't fit thru a lot of doors very well. This one is front to back so its easier. PLUS the back seat folds down and has a safety strap do your infant carrier can sit there safely and tightly tied in.

My mom actually wanted to get the one that Sandy has.

And I still might get it...cuz I do things A LOT with just me and Oni. And the new baby will only wanna be in the sling for SO long...ya know??

But it can def wait!!!

Oh, and I would DEF suggest just getting Ava a toddler bed as opposed to a crib! She'll LOVe the idea of a big girl bed!! Oni was 15 months when we turned her crib into a big girl bed!! She REFUSED to go in the crib!!!

gah i got a double stroller u wont really need it right away, i just put joseph in the umbrella stroller and carried the infant carrier and i went lots of places by myself. but i do have it for those long walks and such. joseph doesnt always stay in it but for the majority he does but i got mine for 80 bucks at walmart when i was like 15 weeks pregnant before icame over here so it wasnt that expensive. they just dont fold particularly small, its beter to look at th stores, i had orderd one offline that folded smaller but the front seat didnt seem to be vry suportive like joseph or a smaller child would slip right off the seat so i returned it.

I think ya'll are crazy. lol
Ava is soooo not ready for a toddler bed. She'd fall off of that thing or get out and walk around her room at night. I'm getting a crib for sure. I'll always need it later b/c we're having 2 more after this one.
Unless things change drastically in the next 6 months we're definetly getting a crib.

they have guards that you put up on the sides so they cant fall out.. Jacob has them on his bed. Plus, you'd be surprised how much better they sleep when they have a *big kid* bed of their own. They feel more independent. We threw Jacob a Big Boy Bed Party. We had cake and ice cream and got him some *presents* which were baseball sheets and pillow cases and a baseball shaped pillow to go along with his bed. He LOVED it and loves sleeping in his bed. He was... 20 months when we switched him.

Since you are having this baby in the summer, i would definitely recommend a double stroller. Think of all the walks you'll be on, and i'm sure Ava won't want to always walk.
Even something that Nat & Bridget mentioned would be good.

Ava would be out of there in 1 minute playing in her room. She loves her crib and sleeps in it all night with no problem. She's never tried to get out and I couldn't even see how she could get out if she wanted to. She's just not ready to make that transistion. Her bed turns into a toddler bed, so either way with 4 kids we'll need more beds.

Michelle, I'm going to look into one like they showed. I just brought it up to Jesse and he flipped out. He's 100% against it. He was also 100% against the umbrella stroller too. He has stroller issues.
I'll either buy one behind his back or wait and show him how hard it is.

I want to try a sling this time around. I had a snugli and we both hated it.

if you're interested in letting her walk around but don't want her running away, here's the backpack "leash" i was talking about-
