Q: Taking Medicine

How do you get your kids to take medicine?
Ava still has fever and it's hell to give it to her. I give her a popscicle and take it away to squirt it in, but she's catching on quick.

Oh man!! I don't know!!

Oni's ALWAYS been great with taking her meds. But I think it's because she had RSV at such a young age and had to take a MASSIVE amount of meds!!

Ummm...if it's tylenol, can't you just add it to her water/milk?

When I babysat before I had Oni, the kids were like that. You'd have to literally kneel on their shoulders...it was TERRIBLE!!

I think the older she gets, the more acceptive she'll be of meds, as long as her experiences are ok with em!

I don't have any problems yet giving Kaylee medicine, I just usually tell her "Yum yum" & that's enough for her to want it lol. Of course that's the yummy tasting infants motrin too, it'll be a different story I'm sure if she ever gets prescribed the nasty stuff though.

I gave her tylenol. It worked, but not as good as it use to with the popscicle. I want her to have a good experience with it, but last time she needed it she wouldn't take it so I had to hold her down. I hated doing that, but she needed it.

She's sweating the fever right now.

yes, Rose. lol
I have the syringe too and she hates it. I shoot some in her mouth right before she's getting ready to bite the popscicle.

Aw, poor thing. This seems to have been a crappy few weeks for her. Sad

Is she only fighting the fever? I loved Dimatap as a kid, but I'm not sure if she's old enough for it.

I hope she starts feeling better soon. Give her a big hug from us. Are you feeling ok?

I'm feeling great. Thanks for asking.
Ava had chicken pox and measles shots 10 days ago and they said that 7-10 days later she could run fever and possibly get a few bumps.
The fever started yesterday.

My girl went to bed with the chills tonight. She was trembling after her bath. I snuggled her up and when I touched her back she arched it and screamed. I guess it was cold. I put her on a jogging suit pants and t-shirt. We cracked back the heater, but I'll turn it down. It doesn't take long for her to start sweating after she takes the tylenol.
