The title of the thread being" Arranged Marriage Romantic?" I would have to say NO. Because if I got some big burley, bad bread, hairy guy who farted at the dinner table . That would not be romantic to me. And no matter how nice he was, I don't think I would ever find him romantic. I might grow to Love him if he was a good man, but I still don't think the romance part would ever be there. It would be cruel to a man if I could not make love to him.

You couldn't possibly think of any case at all where it would be romantic? That was the point; NOT to think about the worst case scenario. Women marry hairy farting men VOLUNTARILY and marry abusive VOLUNTARILY so I can't understand why that relates at all.

Hey, now, I've picked a hairy farting dude! Very Happy

Me, too, Marty; I would not want someone else to pick out who I was going to marry.

Lol! No! Ew XD I don't like a ton of dark hair, but I know a certain man up at my college who's a red/blond-headed Vermonter-mountain man ... and I wouldn't mind if HE was hairy!!! That would be sexy lol XD

(I have a major crush on this man in case you can't tell. He's happily taken by someone else, unfortunately!)

Eerily that's what kept me with my ex for so long - almost a year longer than I should have. I thought "what I have is so good; we never argue, he's kind, gentle etc, so why risk losing that?" Thank goodness my sense of adventure and dissatisfaction won over.

You know eiri you would be surprised how life changes but when I was younger in college like yu I had this bf and he became my bf because I wanted to be with somebody even if I didn't like him so much. I didn't like him much because he wasn't an attractive looking guy. But he was very good guy and we never argued and he treated me like a queen but I ditched him because I felt I didn't love him and didn't wanted to "settle" like you guys mean. Well after him I had so many bf's, all failing relationships and I realized that guy was actually a great guy for marriage and I did a mistake ditching him. Ten years later this is the kind of man I was looking for marriage, not thinking it's "settling". Just wanted you to see how your thinking may change over the years and what you like now may not be what you like 10 years down the road. Love and what I though it was love at your age is very different to what I think it is now. It's very interesting.

I'm pretty sure my ex is not the kind of person I'm looking for. He's indecisive, has too many weird habits, kept saying he wanted to become a monk and possibly castrate himself, become abstinent, wasn't sure if he wanted kids, didn't celebrate holidays, HATED the military -which you all know is a major part of my life- and he's a pessimist. Plus, his "cold" or "robotic" personality was cute at first, but I want someone waaaay more enthusiastic, someone who will tackle me in public, act goofy with me, and not tell me to calm down.

Yes, among other things!! Now I'm not saying being "goth" is weird but... well, yes it is. When nearly every shirt you own is black, most of your pants have safety pins and chains, and most of your boots are up to the knee and covered in buckles... I liked his quirks and they're what attracted me to him, but he didn't change or mature (he's 28 I think?) and that was a major no-no for me. Even I am noticing major changes in myself maturity wise as I get older. I'm liking more mature clothing I would have hated three years ago. I want to look and feel professional. He doesn't. He's still a kid.

Well not really bad, but I lost a lot of years... alone, I could have had small children already probably a couple by now and I would have never known what is heartache from a relationship..Oh well on a good side it did helped to appreciate better what you have. Fortunatetly I did marry a good man Smile
