Q: Seizure Effects On Your Body.....

My seizures are caused by an excessive amount of grey matter on the right hemisphere of my brain (approx. 1/3 of it). I also have a small spot on left hemisphere too.
Which makes most of my seizures on my left side of my body, usually in the upper torso.
I seize every day. And I have been complaining to the doc about my muscles hurting alot.
Has any one ever been told that repeated seizures can damage/hurt your muscles?????
About 2 1/2 years ago is when I first told the doc that my body was starting to hurt, and now its mainly just my left arm and shoulder, and sometimes my left side.
When I went to see the doc the other day I also told him that i've been noticing that my left arm/hand has been hooking once in awhile too.
And this is when he informed me that he believed the seizures are the reason behind it.....
Has any one else ever heard of this before?????
Your input is greatly needed...... Because i'm worried that its just going to get worse. I'm also starting to loose strenght in my left hand too.
At first I just thought is might have been a side effect of the meds, but I don't know now.
I'm thrilled to have found this site!!!!!!
Thanks for all the info and help :d

Hiya Mickeyfan
Hello
me again.
Thats strange you say that because sometimes I will feel like I dont have a left arm. But I do I look at my arm and I dont feel it. Then I touch it with my right arm and I feel it but it feels different. So I pinch myself and I feel that and it hurts the same on both sides. You re probably thinking that I am weird or something. Even I thought that I was weird. Have you heard of these types of seizures called jacksonian seizures? Because I am wondering if I am having them, aswell as the other weirdo stuff I have. When I have a huge seizure the right side of me is all like pumped up like I have been doing weights. And my right side is limp afterwards. And because of this I am now continuing to run my thumb over my fingertips on my left hand to make sure its still there. I havent had a stroke. But I think what you and I are experiancing is that after our seizures we have damaged a small sensory part of our brain to touch. We just have to work on strengthening our self. You know. If I am making any sense. It corrects itself. But you still cant help but freak about it. With the jacksonian seizures I mentioned. A part of you gets paralised for a short period of time. When I was 18 one side of my face went paralised for 1 week. One half of my tongue it was so scarey. The doctors said I had bels palsy. But I dont beleive I ever had it. I believe I am having jacksonian seizures. They are rare, but they do happen.

Hi Sami,
I have heard of jacksonian seizures. I to have wondered if that is the type I might be having.....
I to get a tingling numb feeling alot of times, its almost always on the left side in my upper torso/face area. When it happens to my face and my tongue it gets so numb feeling I can bite it and not hardly feel it.
When my arm sometimes gets to the point of being so numb like a wet noodle, I can't make it move at all, it just hangs there. This last sometimes for a couple of minutes. And slowly I have to work at moving my fingers to revive my hand. And if by chance it happens to my left leg I try to lock my right one to keep from going to the ground.
Weird huh!!!!
I do exercise and I sculpt with clay, and everyone that knows me thinks I should have hugh hand/arm muscles but I don't.....
I geuss unless your on this side of the seizure fence you really don't grasp the whole picture on how it effects your whole life and everything you do........I just know the muscle soreness in my left arm is here to stay.
In the last several months it gotten worse an it feels heavy.... And the doc told me its from all the seizeing in that area......
Yeah, I do know its hard not to freak out some of this stuff....... But some of it is down right scarey!!!!!!

Hello Mickey Fan.
I know what you mean bout the wiggle your fingers, it feels dead hey. Your arm. Its like when you sleep on your arm and it goes dead. And you have to wake it up.

Yeah, thats what it feels like.....
Did you ever remember playing games in kindergarden where you had to wiggle your arms above your head real fast then hold them down by your side???? And you get this funny blood rushing feeling....
Kinda, mix the two together and thats as best as I can explain my usual seizures.
