Q: Recovering From Full Hysterectomy

Hi
My name is April and I am 2 weeks post surgery for full hysterectomy. I am a little sore still, but hopefully everything will work out. So far, so good. I had fibroid tumor and a lot of adhesions from former c-sections. I know it's just going to take time, but I find that when you start feeling better, it's very easy to get bored. I live in a part of Canada that is very cold right now, so I can't even step outside without heavy coats and boots, etc. Our vehicle is an SUV so it is still hard to get in and out of. Anyway, if anyone has advice or wants to share their experience, please feel free. I have 2 teenage sons and I work part-time.

I know you are probably going stir crazy being cooped up, but rest is honestly the best thing right now. Have you been having many problems with your recovery at all?

Not really. About what I expected. Just very sore. I know I need lots of rest but I think it's important to walk a bit. Unfortunately, my house is small, and it's winter.
I have been told that I shouldn't expect too much this soon. Maybe in another 2 weeks I will notice a better change. I already notice that it's a little better each day, so I just go day by day. Thanks for responding. I'll let you know how this goes.

Thank you. Just found out at my follow-up that I have a cervical infection which was apparently diagnosed during surgery! This is the first I heard of this. I am on oral antibiotics now. Still a little sore, but getting better every day!

having everything out march 20, what to do about HRT afterwards.
I'm 38, had my kids. having everything taken out due to stage four severe edometriosis. Adhered to my bowel, everything. Lots of bleeding and knock your socks off pain!! They can't save the ovaries, so surgical menopause it is. Been on Trelstar for two months to chill things out. Having the hot flashes and sleep has been interrupted. I'm nervous about the surgery, it's surgery!! I've been told i'm going to be very very tired and not to lift anything!! Good advice? just today they've put out new info on hrt, cancer and heart issues. I'm having an okay time with my psuedo induced menopause and i'm considering not taking hormone replacements afterwards, risks outweight the benefits kind of thing. Anyone out there struggling with the same decision or have already made it? Any other info would be great.

I'm still looking at options. I had the surgery Dec. 27. So far, it hasn't been too bad. Good luck with your surgery!

Hysterctory Surgery
I had my surgery last friday and went to work for a while this thursday. I will be able to drive monday so i am going to try to go to work for a few hours a day this coming week. I have not really had any pain. Makes me wonder if they did anything at all to me. LOL. I am sore just around the insisions on my belly. I had a full Hysterctory thur the vaginal, it is better that way, less pain.

Be careful...Take it easy...No lifting...Stitches are healing and you need to let them heal...You should be getting a lot of rest...You don't want to cause any kind of weakening in this area...As soon as you are able, do your Kegal exercises again...Good luck...
