I have had Epilsy for 40 yrs( now 56). I have been on Dilaintin and Phenobarbital for 40 yrs, relatively high dosages. No seizures in almost
30 yrs,( still none).

Recently I stated having major probems( Dec 07) with constipation( I thought unrelated). GOing to Dr, for test, etc.I had my Med levels checked, Pheno was much higher than usual, Dilantin was double. During the time waiting for results. I became weaker( I thought dehydration), then dizzy, then problems with balance, other symptoms.

I got the med levels back adn I know coordination is a sign of a problem. I had ctscan, the only thing found was a enlarged appendix, I am going to see another Dr. about.

My Dr. took me off Meds for 2 days, and restarted, Dilantin at 1/2 dose.

Q: Does constipation affect Dilantin/Phenobarb levels ? I didn't think so ?
I know it remains in your saliva

Q: I am still weak ?
Eating relatively well, should be getting stronger.

I want to get this resolved and maintain control of my seizures(none).

Looking for answers...

Thanks
