I have just been diagnosed with PCOS. my weight is a HUGE problem. before most of my symptoms started showing up i was sitting at 145-150 lbs (and fine with it.) within weeks i ballooned! in the first month i hit 200. now i am sitting at 260, and my body cant handle it. it hurts to walk, sit, or stand for more than 10 min at a time. i can't sleep. i get shin splints from grocery shopping. my heart is starting to beat irregular. my skin is so stretched that i have, not just stretch marks, but now i have torn tissue. (the other day one actually tore open and bled.) i have always eaten healthy. i try to work out daily for at least 20 min, i even have a trainer at my gym. i work out constantly with no change.

what kind of diet a person with PCOS should be on? what type of excersizes should i be doing? i have gotten answers, then they are contradicted in the next sentence. and the answer my doctor said was google it.

Please help me, i need to get this weight off fast, my body cant take it

Common symtpoms of PCOS include irregular cycles, hirsutism, sterility, miscarriages and difficult time managing weight. No matter your disease, you can’t become overweight if you don’t ingest excessive food. Every case of weight increase is due to food ingestion that is more than the normal body’s needs. To investigate the particular dietary regimes for PCOS ,you can consult an endocrinologist who can help you set up a meal plan.

PCOS dieting!
I also have PCOS. I have gone to seen a nutritionist a few times, and she has made a meal schedule for me. The most important things to do are this:

Beware of carbohydrates! Carbs trigger the body to release insulin. PCOS also tells the body to release insulin -- therefore, for people with PCOS, the "crash" after the sugar high from carbohydrates is absolutely brutal. If I'm correct, do you find yourself craving carbs often? At first when you try to eat less carbs, it's really hard, but it gets easier.
Note-- It is still okay to eat some carbs! Just try for 80-100 calories of carbs, 5 times throughout the day, and that's about it.

Because less of your daily calories will be coming from carbs, it's important to make sure you are replacing those carb calories with protein or fat calories.
Also, when you do eat carbs throughout the day, try not to have just carbohydrates alone. Try and mix the carbs with a protein or a fat -- such as toast with peanut butter, instead of just the toast.

Hope this helps!

this doctor has no idea what he's saying..........pcos does cause rapid weight gain but only someone with this condition would no that........ i dont care how excessive you eat, no amount could be excessive to the point that you gain 30lbs in less than a month (3wks to be exact)and feel absolutely lost because you have no idea why this is happening to you and have people you know look at you differently asking repeatedly are you pregnant because your abdomen becomes ridiculously extremely bloated and huge and the rest of you spreads to know end..........this doctor needs to actually ASK someone who is going through this before he opens his mouth........
