If someone gets pregnant on birth control and they are taking it perfectly, they are in the 1-3% of women that make up the failure rate. I know it happens, but it's not common. But the girls are right, it does happen, so if a baby would be a big problem for you and/or you aren't willing to have an abortion, using condoms as well might be a good plan.
For me, the 1-3% risk is ok.
It is more likely, if someone gets pregnant on birth control, that either they weren't taking it correctly, or they were taking a medication that interfered, or they missed pills due to throwing up/diarrhea, or something like that.
