We have the appointment for tomorrow (1/11) and need help urgently.

I am 30 years old. My husband and I just got married and I am pregnant. We are not ready for a baby yet and have some other commitments to fulfill. After a lot of thinking, we have decided to go ahead with a 'surgical abortion' and have the appointment for tomorrow. We are having second thoughts because of the questions below.

Since I am already 30, will getting an abortion:
1. Cause problems in me trying to get pregnant in future?
2. Cause problems for the next baby?

Can anyone please answer this urgently? This is my first pregnancy.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

Surgical is a good choice, many actually prefer it over the medical method (taking abortifactants) because there are generally less complications, the healing time is much quicker, and is over with quicker.

You should not experience any problems conceiving afterwards, and an abortion would have no ill effects on any future conceptions. Many women find that they conceive just as easily after an abortion, and many women have conceived after an abortion and their future children were just fine. In fact there are some women on this board who have had abortions and then went on to have children and their children are perfectly healthy.

Carifairy is much more knowledgeable than I, so hopefully she will answer you quickly.

Sorry I couldn't have been of more help. Wishing you the best.

Thanks Amino65,

You've given great advice. Appreciate the quick reply. I am actually more concerned because I am over 30. Do you have any perspective on that?

Hope Carifairy also responds.

Thanks again..

Your age is no concern at all as far as abortion is concerned.

I work in an abortion clinic, a nicer more private one, and I see a good amount of women over 30 having abortions.

Your abortion will not affect future pregnancies, JUST like a d&c for a miscarriage does not affect future pregnancies, they are similarly done.

I DO recommend IV sedation/asleep sedation.

Carifairy and Amino65,

Im done with the procedure. All fine so far.

Thank you so much for all your help.

I am due for some medical tests for other reasons around February 13th. Would any of the hormones related to pregnancy be present in my blood. Would the blood reports indicate in any way at all that I was pregnant and/or had an abortion?

You could still have some if the HCG hormone in your bloodstream.

Some women have a positive pregnancy test after an abortion for 4-5 weeks.

You may want to postpone tests for a week or two, or simply tell them the truth.
