Hi
I just came off H Pyolori treatment about
3 or 4 weeks ago myself. 10 days off
antibiotics followed up with 8 weeks of
heavy dose proton pump inhibitors.
Although I believe the H Pylori is gone
now, I have been feeling like crap ever
since I stopped the antibiotics treatment.
I've had so many sick symptoms that it's
been stressing me out lots.
It started with throat problems, where it
felt like my throat swelled up (but I
could still swallow and breathe just
fine), and I had severe sinus pressure.
My doc chalked it up to the acid reflux
agitating my throat and going up into my
sinuses. I can say that it has gotten a
lot better now that I've stopped the
treatment, but I still feel it a little
bit, and it's annoying.
After that episode, I started getting jaw
pains and neck pains, and my eyes turned
red. That was horrible too... My neck
and jaw are much better, but I can still
feel it. It's scary because I've never
had any "sick" symptoms like this last for
so long.
I had digestive problems just like you
described. Constant diarrhea. Also, when
you look at it, you can see lots of bits
of undigested food in it. After that
calmed down for me, I noticed that I
started getting some abdominal discomfort
(not any severe pain, just discomfort).
Then I started becoming constipated, I
think. I keep having bowel movements
regularly each day, but then it would be
only very little bit each time, and it
feels like I still need to go, but can't
get it out. When it does come out, it
looks yellow, and it's formed but very
soft and loose (it falls apart once it
hits the water).
It's been extremely disconcerting for me..
I can't figure out what's happening. The
only thing that I could find online is
that with antiobiotics, especially with
strong antibiotics (in our case, TWO
strong antibiotics at the same time), they
will kill ALL bacteria. This includes all
the beneficial bacteria that is needed in
the intestinal system to help your body
break down foods. I also read that it
could take up to 6 months for your body to
re-accumulate these beneficial bacteria
and normalize your digestive system.
I am going to see my doctor again soon. I
highly suggest that you do as well. It's
not a bad thing to be concerned about your
own health.
