Q: Medical Jobs With No Experience

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, if not I apologize.

I just got out of the Navy a couple of months ago and started college this week. I'm dead set on going to medical school, and I would like to get some sort of experience under my belt to help me out when I apply, but it seems like there are 0 jobs of any kind available for anybody like me (completely inexperienced). I was a chemist in the Navy so I figured that might help, but so far I've found nothing =P

I took a job at an animal hospital working in the kennel at almost minimum wage to try and work my way up to a vet tech, since its the closest thing to medical experience I was able to find. I would enjoy working in a human medical environment though, and was hoping somebody who has been in my situation could give me some tips or point me in the right direction.

My sister didn't have any medical experience before she started working for the mentally and physically disabled. They train you. I think I saw something in a paper around here for a place of the same sort: taking care of people with developmental disabilities, on the job training. You should look into something like that. It's a bit closer to taking care of animals Wink

Hey Yes I had no medical experiance and I got a job with a community home for those with developemental disabilities. I actually found it as moninashoe stated--in a newspaper. they want those that arent doctors or nurses so that it is more of a family environment. YOu could look it up in the yellow pages for health care or even community homes--those places are always looking for people to work for them---I know we always are looking for people. Or you could even talk to city hall and they could probably hook you up with a school for special needs and you could talk to them and they could probably give you the names of the direct care facilities in your area. I that looking up direct care facilities in your area would be your best bet. you could even google it--often the nursing homes will ask people to work as well. /they pay for all your t r aining--cpr,first aid etc.
