I have just started to have sex recently. The first time I went through with it I didn't finish, because I didn't feel safe with just useing a Condom. After that I told my mom the next day. I thought it was the right thing to do. I wanted birth control. I got my birth control it is a nervo ring. Don't know if any of yous had heard of that before. I was talking to some people about my sex life and everyone says that having to use a condom when your on birth control is dumb. I feel safer using a condom and my nervo ring. But what I was wondering is what if you just use the birth control lets say any birth control without a condom, are your at more of a risk getting pregnent??

If birth control is used correctly you are 99% protected. There is that 1% chance you can get pregnant. I have never known anyone to get preg while on birth control, but I am sure there are some women out there that fall into that 1%.

Its really up to you. If it makes you feel safer then use a condom. I never used a condom while on depo just because I didnt want to.

What do you guys think?

Some people, especially young people (when pregnancy would be a really bad thing) use condoms with their birth control. It will make your protection slightly higher.

It's not necessary, though, as long as you are using the ring correctly.

However, it is a good idea to keep condoms on hand in case you need them- for example, if you are on antibiotics, you should use condoms, or if you're having sex with someone new and you need protection from STD's. I'm married and on the pill but we use condoms from time to time if I miss a pill or throw up or anything like that.

But it's up to you and what you're comfortable with. It's certainly not stupid to use both, it's smart of you to be protecting yourself.
