Hi! My period has started even though I still have 4 active pills left. I've been on the exact same birth control for over 2 years now, and this has never happened before. There is no chance I'm pregnant, so should I be concerned or is this normal? Thanks!

If you are concerned, you really need to call your doctor and ask.

Extremely eHealthy
It IS normal to occasionally have breakthrough bleeding, missed periods, or irregularity while on the pill, although it can be annoying.

Likely causes for breakthrough bleeding in women who have been on the pill long term.

Antibiotic use
Saint johns wort usage
certain RX drugs usage
Missing a pill
taking a pill later than usual
