Hi everyone

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this topic but here goes....My boyfriend has a severe cough for the past two years. It started off when he picked up a cold and has got progessively worse since.

Symptoms include:

Coughing severely - seems to be more persistant in the morning time when he gets out of bed, when he is eating a meal and also when getting out of the shower - maybe somthing to do with being cold.

Vomiting up phlegm - this is the most serious and distressing symptom. When he starts coughing badly, and especially in the morning time, he always vomits up phlegm (light yellow colour). He literally vomits all of this up and its quite distressing for him.

I hope someone can help with this as its been happening for the last two years and is starting to get him down alot. He has been attending a chest specialist who has prescribed him various medication but nothing has worked. He lives a relatively healthy lifestyle and does not smoke. The specialist seems to think it might be caused by mucus dripping from the back of his nose and into his chest but so far as I said, none of the treatments have worked for him.

any help would be very much appreciated

Acid Reflux ???
It could be that he is not acutally vomiting up phlegm but acid. My little brother had this same problem.

Does he have any of these symptoms?
(Acid laryngitis. A condition that includes hoarseness, dry cough, the sensation of having a lump in the throat, and the need to repeatedly clear the throat. Trouble swallowing (dysphagia). In severe cases, patients may even choke or food may become trapped in the esophagus, causing severe chest pain. This may indicate a temporary spasm that narrows the tube, or it could also be an indication of serious esophageal damage or abnormalities. Chronic sore throat. Persistent hiccups.
Pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen. Fullness in the stomach. Nausea after eating.Heartburn.After a heavy meal. Bending over. Lifting. Lying down, particularly)

coughing
Not sure what test he has taken for Acid Reflux, Gerd, etc. I hate to tell you this but I've had a cough now for 5 year. Tell your boyfriend to manage his health, otherwords start collecting his medical records and prescription just incase.

I've taken every test known to man, in 5 years you know I have. No one doctor could cure it. I cough when I get up until I sleep. The moment I lay down it stops.

Try Allerx (regular)

Ask doctor to get samples and try it. It worked for me, but of course I am immune to it now. 99% of the doctors didn't know what it was nor "Ah-Chew" which worked but now no longer avail-I heard financial problems. But Ah-Chew worked. But Now try Allerx and see what happens. I noticed it immediately.

morning phlegm
I battle with excessive coughing and vomiting phlegm in the morning especially. I have found that my diet is very closely related to this. Have your boyfriend stay away from all dairy, yeast/gluten and wheat products. I know it sounds like alot to stay away from... and it is. But believe me, it will help. After about a week, he will be able to wake up in the morning without feeling the need to cough up phlegm. Start adding things back into his diet, noting what makes him react the next morning.

I have tried this and learned that my body has a sensitivity to milk, tomatoes, gluten/yeast and wheat products. If I eat any of those things, I get up the next morning coughing up phlegm.

Also look up Dr. Mercola online as he gives good info on this type of diet. It is a sacrifice, but well worth it if it makes your boyfriend feel better.
Good luck.
God bless.

I am suffering with phlegm vomiting since 20 days. I took so many antibiotic injections and many medications but not successful. Kindly guide me what I should consume to stop from this problem. I am aged 84 years.
