high blood pressure and high cholesterol with chest spasms
Posted: 01-10-08 01:36am

I recently discovered I have high blood pressure (155/8Cool and high cholesterol (255). I am a 29 year old male in good health (6' 165 lbs) who runs 5 times a week 4-5 miles. I went into the doctor for chest spasms I was experiencing. That is when the BP check and blood work discovered my elevated levels. My family has a history of high BP and Cholesterol.

I have since been to the doctor 2 more times for chest spasms and neck pain. My doctor has ruled out angina (coronary spasms) due to my age and gender. My "spasms" are in my left chest on or just below my rib cage. They do not hurt but are just uncomfortable and usually come on at night lasting anywhere from 1 hour to through the night. They feel almost like indigestion. My heart rate is low due to my running and my triglicerides and thyroid were normal.

Any other possible diagnosis for my chest spasms? Any one else with similar experiences? Is there a chance I could have issues with my kidneys and thats what is causing the high Cholesterol at such a young age?

Thanks

Chest pains can be manifested in patients with hypertension.
Are you experiencing these pains only at night while resting?
Are you aware of some gastrointestinal problems you may have?
What you were suggested for your hypertension and high blood cholesterol?
