Q: Irregular light period pregnant ?

Hi. I am 18 years old. I had sex with my (now-ex) boyfriend around august 29th, 2007. I have not had sex since then. We usually always always use a condom or he pulls out, but I cant remember which he did that day. We were always very careful. We broke up like a week later. I fooled around with a college boy around November 17, 2007(although we were not fully clothed, we did not have sex but I did give him a hand job where he came). I had been really irregular my whole life and finally went on birth control in the spring of 07. I have usually had regular periods with the birth control, but I have had problems with my period for the last two or three months. It has come, but it is very VERY light, lasting only a day or so with brown discharge. This is freaking me out, because I have heard about how a woman can "spot" when she is pregnant. I have read article after article trying to figure out what to do, because if my parents find out they will literally kill me. I don't know if I am pregnant or if I have a medical problem or what the deal is but I do not want to go to the gyn (esp with my mom) if I am pregnant. Please someone help me.

I've heard of many cases where women have light, light bleeding for the first three or four months of their pregnancy. [not a period, but just light bleeding] Concluding that it is possible you are pregnant, but if you are worried about it, you shouldn't have been so careless. ; )

Get a test if you're worried. But mainly I think by five months you would know if you were pregnant or not...

Thank you for the responses... I am just freaking out. I dont understand how I can not be having a normal period when I am on birth control. I dont have any symptoms but I know that women sometimes dont always have sympotoms of pregnancy when they are. Do yall think anything concerning the other guy? Do yall think that any of his cum could have gotten into me... that was around November. I agree that with 5 months with my ex bf I would know by now so maybe that rules that out?

You could always buy a home pregnancy test and take it if it will make you feel better. Make sure you follow the directions exactly, especially pertaining to the time of day to take it, i.e. first thing in the morning.

This is the beauty of birth control - lighter, less crampy periods.

If you are having regular periods, even if they are light, you are NOT PREGNANT.

You can take a home pregnancy test to completely rule out pregnancy since you seem pretty fearful you are pregnant. Go spend $10 on a test and put your mind at ease.

By the way, YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT. Wink

Condoms in addition to your birth control pills not only will help to keep you safe from pregnancy but they will also keep you safe from multitudes of STDs.
