Hi,

This is a bit hard to describe. I seem to have "difficulty" breathing through my mouth. When I do it, it feels weird at the back of my mouth, like it's really dry. I also feel a weird "tasteless feeling" like my throat & mouth has no taste, & it is block with phlegm. This makes me feels nauseous & induces the feeling of vomiting. This in turn forces me to consciously swallow my saliva to reduce the vomiting feeling. (To swallow-in rather than puke-out)

The tasteless feeling is creating a big problem as I have already book a PADI basic diving trip in March, I really don't want to have to cancel it. But vomiting under the sea (breathing through the mouth) would be a bad idea.

I never had this problem before, I used to jog alot, swim alot, (breathing through my mouth) with no probs. Now when I do it, (restarting healthy life style) I can't. I almost choke/ vomit when I was swimming, 'cos I felt the need to keep swallowing my saliva preventing me from swallowing air, for my breathing.

I hope I am making sense here. I have been to a Ear, Nose, Throat department at SGH. The doctor did a scope through my nose, he says he can't see anything wrong. No growths, nose mucus are normal, no dry nose/ throat. He only mention I have a narrow airway.

Please help, thanks a million

What happens when you try to breathe in through your mouth after sucking on candies or mints? or after inhaling menthol? I'm thinking maybe stimulation of the saliva glands to moisten the tongue might help.
