I was diagnosed on the 19th December 2007,
Im on Pain killers & anti-inflametries.

The pain is very severe, even while taking pain killers. The pain starts at my
lower back and goes all the way to my knee, the rest of my leg has gone 15% num and I sometimes use a walking stick.

The good news is my GP made a predictions that this will only last a month.

However I fear the worst and think that there may be something else besides
my disk pushing down on the sciatica nerver, like a tumor or something.

At this stage I have had only the CAT scan and think the MRI will reveal more
detail.

Yep
Sounds like I had more severe pain as mine was all the way down the leg and across the top of my foot to the big toe. The MRI showed a herniated disc and vertebrate out of alignment. Get one! Surgury using Titanium rods and screws were placed 26 days ago. One vertebrate and the bulging disk were revealed during the MRI. I was more than ready for surgery after suffering for 5 weeks. The nerve is taking a while to heal, but that was worse than the siatica pain I had for years. Am home recovering. I had had anti-inflam for years for scatica.

Regular Sciatica/back pain can be very painful.
I had few times so bad pains I couldn't walk and once I was sent to hospital by ambulance. I was lucky one doc finally saw what was wrong with me and the cause of my pains. But it took over 10 years of running to see all kind of doctors.

"scatica" now seven years and still no surgery
It seems to have gotten much worse over the last two weeks, with not being able to bend forward or put much pressure on my right leg.I'm more worried that after so many years that this time it won't ease up with rest.I have three herniated disc's but still no one will operate.Normally, I have four bad days out of the week, but things usually settle down with bedrest or it shifts to the left leg,I'm concerned that over time, yes seven years now, that there will come a day where the pain never leaves, and I won't be able to walk.I hope this is not the case, But it's so frustrating to not know from one day to another what I'm in store for.And the fact that the doctors don't seem to be concerned, they just order more pain meds.I hate being out in public and I have to scream out loud because the pain is ripping through ,my body.Or just laying on the couch and moving the wrong way and it rips through me just trying to relax.Just getting a good nights sleep is almost impossible now, with pain ripping through both legs and funny tingling pains at night.I quess I'm just venting, because I'm so tired of being in pain 24/7
