Disclaimer: both my partner and I have been tested. Neither of us have STDs, so the symptoms I'm about to describe should not be attributed to them. Think outside the box.

So my partner and I had been having frequent sex for a solid week with no problems, and one time while in the shower she was using soap on my penis with her hands for a while.

Due to prior experience, I should've known better. Soap penile innards = pain...but temporary (less than a day or two) and tolerable (subtle sting during urination).

Sure enough, afterwards it started stinging. This happened the night of Jan 2nd..it's now the night of Jan 7th..still stinging..and it gets better sometimes and worse sometimes. At worst it's a blinding stabbing pain at the start of urination which dulls out to a throbbing ache throughout, continuing after i'm done. At best it's what I'm familiar with from the past, subtle and tolerable ache while urinating, which subsiding when i'm finished.

What concerns me is the length of this. 5 days? From soap? I've certainly urinated plenty in the past 5 days, so there can't possible be any soap left inside. What's keeping it from healing? Pain killers don't touch this.

I've considered using liquid forms of local anesthetics for when i have to urinate - that's how bad this is.

Would anti-biotics help? Is infection possible? the reason I ask this is because the day after the Soap Incident, I persisted in having sex with my girlfriend despite the soreness. Part of me suspects that the already-tender tissue could've been infected by the bacteria which naturally occurs inside the vagina.

Could I have a urinary tract infection? Can that even happen for men?

Another side note, the pain does not seem to be related to the acidity of urine. Sort of as an experiment, I tried masturbating earlier, and was stunned with pain as I was nearing ejaculation - semen and pre-cum also trigger this intense pain.

This has me thinking it's an open wound? Pressure-related pain? the cut is trying to heal, and the dialation caused by fluids passing through the urethra causes it to tear open again?

that's certainly the "kind" of pain it is anyway..a tearing, stabbing kind of pain, like you're ripping off a fresh scab. Gah.

Of course everyone's gonna say "go to the doctor", but the issue with that is that I've just started a new job, and my employee health insurance doesn't kick in until mid-February.

So I'd be happy with some suggestions on how to cope with this until it runs its course.

Yeah you could have a urinary tract infection- men can definitely get them. Try drinking lots of water and cranberry juice.

Or you could have a yeast infection too- men get them as well, and using soap could cause that. I'm not really sure how they're treated in men.

Either way, drink an intense amount of water and some cranberry juice, at the least, that should make it hurt less to pee.

I was gonna add- if it is a uti, you really need to get it treated asap. They can turn into kidney infections and do real damage. Maybe a hospital or free clinic? Planned parenthood treats men in some locations, I'd call the one nearest you and see if they can help.

Ok well I've sort of discovered a pattern. At times when I drink alot of water it seems to be less painful.

Also today I picked up a couple jugs of 100% cranberry juice. Holy god it's awful to drink. The word 'tart' was made for this stuff.

I drank 16oz of it mixed into a smoothy (it overwhelmed the flavors of the over ingredients). I've also drank 2 12oz glases of water. Urinated two times since then, and the pain has been slightly reduced.

Hope it clear up soon. I don't fancy paying hundreds of dollar in med costs for this Neutral

It is awful to drink but the strength of the cranberry juice might kill your infection if it's not too bad.

But really, if it doesn't go away soon, you need to get it checked out.
