Q: Soft tissue damage or ruptured disc ?

Does anyone know what the diffferences are in the symptoms between just having soft tissue damage and having a ruptured disc?

An ER doctor told me they think I have a ruptured disc and I need to have an MRI done. My chiropractor says he does not think I have a ruptured disc and there is no need for an MRI.

I have pain on a daily basis but it's not always in the same place. The back of my neck hurts most of the time - so does my lower back. My mid and upper back, right shoulder, right forearm and wrist, all hurt but it's on and off and does not hurt as bad as my neck and lower back. When the chiropractor works on my neck, my whole right arm goes completely numb.

Any ideas what this could be?

i don't think any of us can tell you, an MRI is probably the only sure way to know, the fact that your right arm goes numb after chiro might be an indication that something is pressing on a nerve, maybe a damaged disk, you may also have alignment problems within your spine.

Good luck.

be careful of chiropractors. they are in a competative business and do not want to lose patients to real doctors. they often try to set as many appointments as they can($$$). if your therapy whith your chiro does not work, it is time to move on to get medical doctors opinion

Many chiropractors try to do a contract of 10-30 treatments. Don't agree! Try to find a chiro who agrees that if 2-3 treatments don't bring help then it is time to try other stuff. And not all chiros are good. Sometimes osteopathian can be better, but not all osteopathians are good either.

And anyway there is no harm of taking that MRI.
