My newborn was diagnosed with a 32 degree curve at a month 1/2 old. The doctor seems to think it will fix on it's own, and that he has no pain. I'm no doctor, but I am certainly a mother who knows different cries, so when he's on his belly for tummy time he screams bloody homicide with actual horrible tears, can't catch his breath, and the rest of the day he's just not happy unless he's sleeping or eating. Can anyone help me?

Hi there!
My advice is to get a second opinion. It can't hurt and it may either ease you're mind or get the ball rolling on another path.
Good luck.

yes i would rekon your child needs evaluation and monitoring from a specialist. Who diagnosed the scoliosis? there maybe nothing that can be done at present as your child is so young often doctors wait and see how things develop before taking action so they say it will fix its self to stop you worrying and pestering them i agree with relm a second opinion would not hurt.

Good luck

Hello Derek,

I am not a doctor but a parent. Sorry, but your doctor is DEAD WRONG. NO scoliosis does not fix itself. Our daughter is a prime example of that. It MUST be treated early and it must be treated properly.

Seek out the BEST doctor, the highest respected doctor for infant scoliosis. You want an expert who will know the very best way to treat your precious young daughter.

Wish your daughter and you as her parent the very best.

See if his pelvis is symmetrical. If not, the cause of scoliosis is asymmetry in pelvis. That is the most common cause of scoliosis. But it can be corrected.
