Hi all,

i have never come to this site before today when I did a search for message boards so I could post this in the interim of going to my appointment with my obgyn next tues....

I am a 32 yr old mom of one and I discovered a lump under my right arm last week that is at the top of my armpit - it doesnt hurt to touch it really, and it feels like it is under the skin. It doesnt move around at all when you push on it, its fairly hard, but I would say it is probably as big as a mini candybar in length for lack of a better comparison. I was looking at a lymph node graph I found and it definitely looks like its related to that. I dont have any history of breast cancer in my family on either side....

Please help me to feel ok or at least grounded....I thought it would go away which is why I gave it this much time, and I have never had anything like this before either. To my knowldge I am not sick with anything. So I go to the doc tues at 4:45pm.

Any words of wisdom, advice, guidance, support - anything - would be so appreciated. All of a sudden I got scared thinking about this more.....

Thank you,
kim

Hi kim,

things like that lump are scary. I had a lumpectomy on my right breast a few years ago. Luckily for me, it was benign. I don't have a history of breast cancer in my family either. One thing my dcotor did tell me when I asked what type of lump it was. He said they biopsied it and that it was benign, but was also classified as the stage just before pre-cancerous. So if I had ignored it and let it go much longer, it might have become cancerous and the outcome of surgery would have been hugely different.

I hope by now you have had an evaluation from your doctor since you had said you had an appointment. Things like this shouldn't be taken lightly and as soon as you find something like that, you need to check it out. Post back and let me know what the doctor said and if you are ok. I'll check back to see if you have posted again in a day or so. Hang in there and good luck.
