Here here!

While you're legally entitled to do it to any of your own children, I don't see any good point besides a religious one (despite the fact I am not religious myself). I just don't understand why and all of the "supposed" benefits have been disproven.

I'm not thinking there is a good reason other than religious either.

IF you do not teach the child to clean themselves, being circumcised is actually cleaner. IF you develop phimosis, circumcision is sometimes the only answer and infant circumcision obviously prevents phimosis as an adult.

I don't think either way it looks better or worse. It is personal preference, like big breasts or brown hair. Those things aren't a relationship-ender unless you're stupidly superficial.

Once on this forum, a girl actually had the audacity to say that she was telling her bf to get circumcised. We set her straight pretty darn quick.

So does aborting every pregnancy so you never gain weight, doesn't mean it's always the right thing to do. Circumcision is a painful process. Your child can't even CHOOSE whether or not they want to go through that pain. By choosing circumcision for looks, you choose pain for your child and you choose a less sensitive penis which leads to less pleasurable sex. What's the point of having a "better looking penis" if it feels only half as good to use it?

Oh but Reptar, some pro-choicers say it doesn't matter WHY the woman aborts, even if she does it to loose weight.

That's cool, but do you think it's okay to force someone else to do it? There are actual clubs out there for men that are trying to get their foreskin back, and some of the methods used convince me that they are desperate and should never have been altered against their will.

Unless there's a present medical condition requiring it, the choice to cut or remain uncut should always belong to the male in question. That way everyone gets to like their penis. Embarassed

I agree... respect I am only speaking 4 myself. If I had a baby boy I don't know what I would do....but that isn't going to happen...I probably wouldn't have it done to him but I don't know 4 sure...its all hypothetical cuz I will never have kids unless I adopt..

Homer- I would like your penis too.

Lol... he just sounded like he needed some encouragement.

I don't think it's a good thing to do to babies. Not at all. But it's also not good to say that circumcised penises are inferior!

I don't think I would EVER be in a position where the shape of a guy's penis actually mattered to me.

Now It Is My Turn
I happen to love the look of the circumsized penis. The way the little head just stands up there and says, WOW, Look At Me! It is beautiful to behold. And, beautiful to share.

Our son was circumsized, I didn't hear much fuss from him. If a man can be safer from the standpoint of freedom of problems/disease down the road, then what possibly could be wrong with that? What we are talking about here is the same thing as not causing pain to anybody in the universe. Pain can certainly come from a man later when the foreskin does not retract. Maybe that is a long shot, but for the ones who have to go in to have that remediated, it certainly isn't a day at the beach.

Until you have had a male child, made that decision, and to this day feel good about it, it is a mote issue. It is just opinion. And, your opinions have value. You just can't decide for me or for parents who make that decision.

I agree with Eiri and Homer.

What can be wrong with it is the possible deformities caused by a botched circumcision, and the loss of about 80% of the feel-good nerves that give a man pleasure. In that sense, it's a very BAD idea to do a circumcision.

And I happen to think it's sexy to see the head of the penis slide out of the foreskin, revealing itself, wet and lubricated!

I think Eiri disagrees... respect and by the way, I AM a man and I have a penis so I can speak from first hand knowledge...if I have lost 80% of my feeling in my penis then Thank you God...I couldn't take any more sensation than I have now...speaking as a man with a cut one...its all good...

I have come to the conclusion that I have no opinion about it. I don't think I will be circumcising any sons I have, but I wouldn't be offended to do so.

Roberta, you know I respect your opinion a lot, so I'm not trying to argue, BUT... I don't think it's a parents decision. When I adopt, or if I decide for surrogacy and by chance have a boy, I would feel very uncomfortable circumcising my son because I feel like it's not my decision to make. This is where my problem is with the whole notion of circumcision.

My son was born in 1965. That is a fact of life. No going back. I personally don't have a problem with the practice of circumcision. I never had to go in there and make sure my son was taking good care of his hygiene. We live in the culture that we are born into. I trusted my doctors. My son has never said he had any regrets about our decision.

If I were a young parent today, maybe I would have thoughts about questioning the reasons for circumcision. But, knowing me, I would probably go for it. It seems to me that the values in the decisions overcome the doubts. Just my opinion.

I also don't like the moral decision to have to step on a grasshopper who comes into my rose gardens, but, I know if I don't smash him, he will eat them alive.

It is a difficult thing to do. But, sometimes, I have to do it.

Bobbie
