Hi this seems to be the best forum that i have found so far with people having what i seem to also be having, in november i was chatting to my husband in bed i turned over and crack went my jaw then it locked all twisted up and then it seemed to go back into place > i went to accident and emergency and was sent home saying that this was not disclcoated now and go home. It has now been 6 weeks and although alot of the swelling has now gone down my bite feels odd and i have limied mouth opening i have been only drinking milkshakes and cup a soups for this period of time. There seems to be alot of crunching going on when i move my jaw on the opposite side to where it originally hurt, i dont really have any pain now just discomfort but will i ever get this opening of my mouth back, my teeth also when it happend felt really weird like when you sprain an ankle and try to walk on it, i cannot bite into anything or chew or anything, i cant sleep as i worry my jaw will slip out again, i know with a dislocated that it can re occur but is there normally a time limit if it is going to happen or something, i been in tears now for days i dont know if i am coming or going

I dont think that it is dislocated. when the condyle subluxes and then returns to its normal place you hear a crack or a pop. It sounds like you could really benefit from some neuromuscular dentistry and a chiropractor. let me know if you need anything--i can even help you find a good doctor.

Hi there and thanks for the reply, i am somewhat confused, if the condyle subluxes (whatever that is) i am sorry i am new to all of this. then how does that happen my actual jaw come out to one side and locked for a bit then unlocked and i have been like i am since with limited mouth opening the only way i can describe it is if i try to oenmy mouth the whole of my mouth feels like it is pulling on one side and it feels like my bite is iff, i am so scared i will be left like this for life

no you wont be like this for life. subluxing merely means that the bone goes past where it should. pm me a zip and i can get you on the road to a good doctor that will fix this for you.
