Q: Motion Sickness

i suffer from motion sickness, and i am desperately trying to find an alternative to the medication i take. i do not have the condition as bad as some....i dont throw up....but i get the nausea, the dizziness, the hot/cold feeling, the cold sweat, etc. it feels horrible....

what i normally do is take one gravol tablet some minutes before travelling, and i would completely knock out for the duration of the trip....and even after the trip, i still feel sleepy.

i really want to find something i can take or use that will not make me drowsy and where the side effects will be minimal if any. can anyone help?

I too suffer motion sickness and like you it's not as bad as throwing up but I get nausea, dizzyness, diahrreah and so on..However I respond very to over the counter pills like Bonine. Meclizine (Bonine) is great and it doesn't make me sleepy. My doctor one time prescribed me some medication I forgot the name now that are patches that you put behind your ear and those didn't made me sleepy at all, very effective but I got the side effect of dry mouth so unfortunatetly it wasn't for me but you should try it because you may not have this side effect..

I also suffer from motion sickness. I can't be in a car for over an hour without getting the symptoms like you have. I can't be in the back seat of a car for any amount of time! As for rides and things like that....one or two maybe before i get the symptoms. What i do is take Dramamine (non-drowsy) works like a charm and no side effects for me anyways. Hope this helped

I'm the same way. If I'm in the back seat for over an hour I get most symptoms, but nothing too extreme like vomiting. Dramamine is WONDERFUL! I basically live on it on the long rides and boats.
