I got x-rays done and my doctor suspects I have TMJ...the thing is is that I'm constantly worried because I hear these weird noises in my ear like grating, ripping, ringing, etc...but they happen mostly when I have gas, about to burp or before a bowel movement...I found this very odd since I don't know if my TMJ is affecting my stomach nerves...i also developed TMJ 3 weeks after my first period a year after my second son was born... and it gets worse when i'm on my period...my neck is stiff and i'm also tired...and i can't think clearly....
are different sounding nosies common with TMJ...

ear noises are very common among tmj patients. the condyle is directly in front of the ear and puts pressure on the ears. if it hurts id get it checked out but noises in the ear is normal for tmd problems

Are there any supplements that can be taken, or anything else that can be done? One thing I do: I use a humidifier at night. The soft humming sound masks all the crunching and ringing in my ears. I originally started using the humidifier because I had Sjogren's Syndrome and needed the extra moisture.

I thought the ear noise originally was caused by Meniere's Disease (fluid buildup in the cochlea), which I was diagnosed with in 1997.

tmj can mimic Meniere's Disease. use heat and ice on it and an anti inflamitory wouldnt hurt. magnesium and msm and glucosamine are a good thing to take as well. I noticed that when i had a lot of olive oil in my diet(i was in france--i had no choice:P) it helped a lot

What's msm?
And how do you apply the hot and cold treatments?

You alternate hot and cold packs about every hour, and don't do either for more than 15 minutes at a time.

MSM is a natural sulfur source that is often paired with glucosamine. You can find this supplement almost anywhere.

Just to make sure I understand. You ice the jaw for 15 minutes. An hour later, you apply heat for 15 minutes. Then an hour later, ice. Etc. For how many hours?
