i have been having a sore throat on the left side of my throat for a month now. I went to the doctors and they gave me antibiotics for strep and they helped but it got worse when i was done with them. since this has been going on for so long i was wondering if it might be a blocked gland/ node of some sort. Any suggestions/ advice/places to seek help would be immensely appreciated!

I don't think that there is anything such as a blocked gland or lymph node. Have you ever tried acupuncture? I'm thinking that this might benefit you b/c your symptoms have continued. In conjunction with antibiotics (if necessary), acupuncture can really clean out your lymph system, which is what it sound like you need. Would you ever try the needles or cupping?

I have something similar. A very mild soreness on the left side of my throat that seems to be there one day, and not much another day.
Have you ever took a flashlight and stood in front of a mirror to take a look down your own throat? Does it look red and irritated at the back?

I think one of the causes of my sore throat might be acid reflux (GERD). Look it up online and see if you have any of the other symptoms, and if you do, ask your doc to check you out to see if that really is your problem.

Also, what made you think of a blocked gland or node? Do you have any enlarged lymph nodes on your neck head or jaw? If you do, bring that up with your doc as well.

Call your doctor if:

* Your glands don’t get smaller after several weeks or continue to get larger.
* Your swollen glands are red and tender.
* Your glands feel hard, irregular, or fixed in place.
* You have a fever, night sweats, or unexplained weight loss.
* Any node in a child is larger than 1 centimeter in diameter.
