Sad hi i broke my humerous in 4 places and my humerous got pushed into my ball socket and then i dislocated it very badly 4weeks ago. after going to the local a and e department and finding this out i could not believe i had done so much damage from falling off a stool. i had to wait for 6 days for my operation as i needed a sholder specialist to peform the op as the otherpedic specialists avaliable would not touch it and i live in england about 1 mile from the local big hospital. Ive had a rod put in and about 6 screws i think which they say will stay there for good. I can not believe what a life changing experince this has been for me i was 40 five days before this happened due to go to lapland with the kids the day after which obviously got cancelled and they say life begins at 40!!!!
the pain is dreadful and i am very tearfull i have been told it will take 3 to 4 months to recover .the physio is hard and i think i have done to much as i am in nearly as much pain as 2 weeks ago, im just wondering if there is any one else out there in the same position? i would love to hear from you

Broken humerous and dislocated shoulder 2
im in the same situation, just younger and no children, my career has just stoped i hope not forever....i am 27 years old and i was assaulted about 9 weeks ago. i had a dislocated right shoulder and a broken humerus. they say that it might not heal, and i might need sergery for a replacement..ii was kicked with a steel toe boot directly on my shoulder as hard as someone can kick you. im suffering so badly, because i am a dj. Its been a dream of mine and i finally got a job making alot of money for 8 years now with a huge promotional company. Now i think my life is over. everything i loved for so long is now over. i know for a fact my shoulder will not heal and work the way it did before and i am more depressed then i haver evr been. Im not sure how things may end up in the. Im just looking to see someones story that has had some success with thier(humerus fracture) and dislocted shoulder. Im just wondering if ill be able to dj again without pain, and with atleast 90 degree movement. this is the hardest thing that i have ever been through...i understand!!!

broken arm and dislocated shoulder
my son has just done the same. i called the paramedics from the school sports hall where the injury occured. they took him into the ambulance and forced a broken arm back into a broken socket. he has been in agony for a week. today we found out that the arm and shoulder are broken. surely they should xray first without just assuming it is simply a dislocation. i am fuming with the paramedics and a and e. my boy has been a whole week with a broken arm that went undiagnosed despite his constant attempts at telling everyone his arm was broken. now he needs surgery and pins.

3 Part Proximal Humerous Fracture
I am a 50 year old male fell off my bicycle and trashed my sholder 2 weeks ago. Had the surgery the blood supply to the bone is viaible so it was pinned and plated. Just sitting around waiting for it to mend.I was told I could have been fitted with an artificial sholder had the blood supply been disrupted, not depressed why should I be.

Probably because you are in for the long grind ahead...The shoulder, I believe from listening to my husband, is one of the most painful and annoying of all his surgeries...You want to reach for something and can't....You must be so careful or you can undo everything that the surgeon has already done...Time drags and you know that you still have therapy ahead...

You are probably depressed because it is a lovely day out and you could kick yourself for falling off a bicycle at your age...Cheer up....You could have damaged your brain and that would have been worse...With this injury you wouldn't be able to be writing to me to ask to be cheered up....You will be fine...Now do take care...Be happy...You are alive...

Recovery from broken humerus
I was hit by a car on 6 January while crossing the road. The impact gave me a broken right shoulder (broken humerus extending to the greater tuberosity) and the joint was forced out of its socket.
It is now 29th May and the shoulder and arm movement is greatly improved, I would say to 80% of how it was before the accident.
For the first four weeks I was in great pain and was totally helpless, could not wash or dress myself etc but it gradually improved.
Then I started physio about 7 weeks after the accident and my progress was very very slow. It seemed I would never get a normal range of movement in my arm and shoulder. In the end it improved and by April I was able to drive again and went back to work in May. It has been a long haul and very distressing particularly as my accident was so traumatic. I now have very bad back pain though, partly because of the back muscles having had to support the shoulder but also because my lower back was badly jarred in the accident. (When the car hit me it knocked me into the air and I landed hard in the road on my coccyx, so I have had that problem to deal with too)
Still quite traumatised but glad it is improving and I am getting my life back!
Also feel very lucky as I could have been killed.
