Q: Spotting while on pill

I have been using the birth control pill for about 5 months. It was coming to the end of my pack, but I didn't want to have my period. My friends have started a new pack as soon as they were done their last one to prevent getting their period. I thought i'd try this. However, I am about a week into my new pack and I have random spotting.

I remember one time while on my pills (when i new to taking them) I had been late taking some and as a result, I got spotting. During this pack, I remember being about 3 or 4 hours late on my pill, but only one pill. My friend tells me to stop taking the pills and just get my period. However, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend a couple days ago and I am scared that if I go off the pill, even though he always pulls out before he releases, that I may somehow end up pregnant.

I really have no idea what to do and I'm scared because this has never happened to me before. If anyone, anyone at all has experienced the same or knows what I should do, please, let me know. Thank you

The taking the new pack to skip a period only works for some people..I would get off the pills for a while and just use condoms because they also can protect you from diseases..not trying to encinuate that your man has anything just trying to help..then start on back on them later..good luck

That's totally and 100% completely normal and to be expected. Skipping a period often does not work the first time. Sometimes it takes a few times.

Absolutely don't do that!!! You were NOT late on a pill - 3-4 hours is perfectly okay. A pill is not late until 6 hours later. Your friend is very ignorant about the pill. If you stopped the pills you could indeed become pregnant.

You're fine. Stop worrying. You're not pregnant and you will not become pregnant as long as you keep taking your pills.

Bad advice. She needs to finish off this month or she might become pregnant. Condoms are always good, but she doesn't need them since she is on birth control and we are assuming both she and the male are clean.

99% isn't 100%... Use both to be safe.

Listen to Eiri- keep taking your pills. Your body will eventually adjust.

If you want to skip your period, that is fine. But it might take a few months of trying for your body to skip correctly.
