Ok, so I took my nuvaring out yesterday like I was supposed to and then for some reason, i put a new one in. I realized this today and I don't really want to skip my period so I took the new ring out. What I'm wondering is if it will still be effective if I put it in after i get my period? Or since i put it in for a day already, it's just not going to work anymore? Or should i just put it back in and skip my period for this month? the only reason i don't really want to do that is because getting my period is just kind of a reassurance for me...so idk, please help!

I think you'll be ok if you take it out and have your period. I don't know if it's ok to put back in a ring that was already in after the week, though. It probably would still work, since it still has hormones, but might not be the most hygenic thing to do. It'll be ok, though.

Clean It
if you clean it with mild soap and lukewarm water it will be fine. My doctor told me you can keep it out for awhile, but if its been out more than a week you wont be able to have protection against pregnancy for 7 days.

No- if it's been out for more than three hours you won't be protected.

Except on her period week, than she has a week max. That's probably what you were talking about. Smile nm

I don't know how to preserve a nuvaring once it has been taken out of the package, so my advice is to keep it in. It's okay to skip a period. You may get some spotting this month; but honestly, it's better than risking using a bad ring or wasting it entirely!
