Can You Use Tampons While Treating Bacterial Vaginosis??? Posted: 04-22-04 16:26pm
So I thought I was having a yeast
infection when I noticed that the
discharge was kind of yellow. I went to
the doctor and it turns out I have a
combination of bacterial vaginosis and a
yeast infection. I'm taking the
antibiotics right now (they make me so
nauseous) and am saving the diflucan until
the antibiotics are done.
Well, I started my period yesterday and I
still have two more days of my
prescription left. I've been using pads
but would like to use tampons, especially
b/c my boyfriend might stay over sometime.
Is it okay to use tampons when treating
bv?
What have your doctors told you about or
how have you handled it?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It is recommended not to because the
tampon can interfere with trying to
stabilize the normal bacteria and ph in
the vagina. I would play it safe and not
where them until after you are off the
antibiotics and sure that everything is
better.

Yes I agree. You are not suppose to wear
tampons while treating bv or a yeast
infection.
