Q: Husband Wants to Have a Baby

I have two children from a previous relationship my husband also has two. He keeps telling me he wants me to have his baby. I think he just wants to over populate the world. I didn't want to have anymore kids mostly because i'm scared. Both my pregnancys were c-sections. I just know my doc will tell me to have another one. The problem is i'm deathly afraid of needle and a c-section requires and epidural. Very large needle in my back. With my last child I twitched during the epidural and a sharp pain shot through my back. I freaked out I was in so much pain they had to insert more drugs into my iv in my arm just to get me to calm down. Nothing was said about it afterward. I didn't think about it. But now I have severe back pain that I believe is cause by it I can't sit for long periods of time, I can't bend over more than a couple times in a row without it hurting and once it starts it doesn't go away. I went to the doctor and she prescribed me antiinflammatorys and muscle relaxers. Neither of which helped. I told her this she said keep taking them it will help. I asked her to refer me to a specialist she wouldn't she kept telling me your only 20 there is no reason for you to have back pain. I just switched doctors and need to make an appt. But bottom line is I would love to have his child but i'm scared to death of having an epidural again. I mean I can't even touch the spot on my bach without it sending pain up my spine. Does any one have an idea of what I should do.

Im sorry you had such a horrible experience with the epidurals, if thats the only reason why you dont want another child, maybe you could have a consultation with your obgyn and explain what happened with your previous pregnancies, there is an alternative, they might be able to put you completely under, its an option whether your doctor will do that , it doesent hurt to find out, I have never had a c section before, but I have had epidurals in my lower back due to an auto accident, it didnt bother me, I want another child, but due to my injuries im very nervous about making them worse, and I know if I were to become pregnant id be a prime candidate for a c section, im going for a consultation with my doctor, to find out more info, and one of the issues is being knocked out, if its that you just really dont want any more children well maybe you should have a talk with your husband. Good luck what ever happens I hope its what you want

Extremely eHealthy
You are 20 years old and already have two children, he already has two...Why not just concentrate on those four for a bit, and think about having another one in a couple of years? Maybe you want to have "his" baby, but wouldn't it be reasonable to see how your relationship develops with all the ones you've already got?

Well no because we don't have all of them at once so there fine what information I really want is about my back I can't seem to find any incidents any ware else of this happening. What I am wondering is would it be safe for my back to have another epidural? I don't plan on having a baby anytime so maybe within the next 2 years but the only info I can find on epidurals is how they are supposed to help your back by reliving pain. Ugghh.
