Q: flattening of ear flap

I have noticed the upper part of my ear has changed significantly over the past couple years. Instead of having a nice rounded flap on the top of my ear it has become relatively flat. This is my left ear (my right ear is fine) and below where the upper flap should be it isn't really flat, it is kind of bumpy like something is there... Like everything it's kind of hard to explain so here are 3 pictures. One from 1999 one from 2001 and one from 2008. I am 26 years old now so in 1999 I was 18 and 2001 I was 20, so the problem seemed to have happened (gradually I am guessing?) over the last 6 years. I really just started noticing it about 3 years ago and it has been bugging me ever since. Does anyone know what could cause this? Anyway to reverse this?

Plastic surgery. Is this aesthetically bothering you? Is there a functional problem? Has your hearing changed at all?

Thanks for the reply. As far as I can tell there is no functional problems and my hearing has not changed at all. It is just the look that bothers me. I went to my family doctor and she wasn't sure and sent me in for an x-ray (which I haven't had). Could something actually show up on an x-ray?

X-rays , MRIs or CT scans can help determine is there's a physical cause of your concern. When can you schedule the X ray?
