Q: Eating causes nausea

I've had a lot of comments about how little I eat and drink which concerns me. I very rarely manage to eat everything in a single portion and am often giving food and drink away because I simply can't eat that much.

When I do try do try and eat what seems to be a recommended daily intake for my height/age group/sex and attempt to finish a meal, I find myself suffering from nausea, and more often than not vomiting.

This is particularly the case when I am eating out/drinking at a restaurant.

I am growing concerned by the fact people have noticed and commented on the fact I eat very little, which is to prevent the above. When I cook meals, I tend to cook much smaller portions and will rarely finish a meal for one. I have found that I have no issues with soups, or vegetables.

I have no objections to any type of food group, although I tend to stay away from sea food.

When I was anorexic people noticed the same for me. Well I wasn't eating at all. It can get annoying can't it???

Then I started eating to please the people around me. But then would go and throw it up.

Now of course I don't recommend doing that, but I do recommend;; when you eat, for the first couple of days, eat just a little bit more than you normally do. Not a lot, just a tiny bit. Couple days later, maybe even a week, eat a little bit more. And so on and on.
And see if that helps??

It sounds to me Spamalam that, while you might have an eating disorder, you might also just have some serious food alergies going on. I'm alergic to dairy but didn't know it until recently. I used to feel like crap after eating all kinds of food, felt naseaus in the morning after my daily cereal and milk. I got crazy full crazy fast and, like you, restaurants were a big problem for me - I'd have 3 bites and feel stuffed. If you have the cash (or the health insurance) you might want to get checked out by an alergist. Maybe there's some very prevelant ingredient that's messing with your system and if you can find it and cut it out, you could eat more normal portions, feel better and maintain a healthy weight.

Good luck figuring it out!

My best friend in high school was very similar. She did have an eating disorder: mostly bulimia with some anorexia, but a few years later she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Her condition manifested similar to what you are describing. I am not dx'ing you but like another poster stated, you may have more going on. I would go to a doctor.
