hi everyone-my son is six years old and has had a true dairy allergy since birth therefore has had all dairy products removed from his diet and drinks soya milk i have asked my gp a number of times if it is necessary to supplement his diet with calcium tablets or similar and have been told not to that he will be getting all the vitamins and minerals he requires but my son has broken both his arms quite severely in what i would consider a very minor accident and i am beginning to think there is a problem with his bone density-has anyone else had any similar problems?i intend to speak to gp again very soon to request some further testing be done. thanks

I am alergic to milk too, and My doctor, acually doesnt have to do a bone density test on me to cheek my calcium levels, but cheeks it through a simple blood test. If you do want to increase you sons calcium though, Silk just came out with new soy milk, and one in particular has alot of added calcium... acually more than milk its self... It has 40% of the recomended daily value of calcium.

also many fruits and vegitables have vitiman C and D in them. D is also very important to bone growth and development... Go for Dark green and leafy for vegies and usually orange and yellow for fruit. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
