Sleepwalking and sleep writing ?? Posted: 01-02-08 06:57am
Hello,
I am in new territory, aside from sleep
walking.
I am writing copiously in my sleep - and
when I later read what I've written, it's
disturbing. I don't mean what is written
is disturbing, just that reading things
that I do not recall, and do not even
"sound like" me is upsetting.
Does anyone sleep write?
Is there a name for this? I googled "sleep
writing" and could find nothing relevant.
Help?

Sleepwalkers do many normal activities
that are normally associated with
wakefulness, while sleeping.
Activities such as eating, bathing,
urinating, dressing, cleaning, driving
cars, whistling, engaging in sexual
intercourse, and committing homicide have
been reported or claimed to have occurred
during sleepwalking.
Anything you see or hear during the day
may trigger activities during
sleepwalking, because sleepwalkers are
highly suggestible.
Are you experiencing high levels of stress
and anxiety during the day?

An antidepressant such as Amitriptyline
can help with this but to be honest, I
would welcome it as my mind's unique way
of dealing with stress. I have sometimes
typed or written words and phrases when I
have been very drowsy and am amazed that
my brain can continue doing this when I
have effectively zoned out for a few
minutes. I wouldn't try to read anything
into what you have written - chances are
it is just your brain re-running some old
tapes as it is sorting out the day into
relevant compartments.
