I'm an older woman who enjoys my sexuality and have smoked for way too long. Lately I've been having trouble breathing after an orgasm, so much so, it scares me to death. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm getting really upset about this, but too afraid to keep up the fun. Crying or Very sad
I know i should stop smoking, but it really is hard to do, so i guess i have to make a choice, but not right now please. scared

Does it possibly have anything to do with your breathing patterns before the orgasm? Some people hold their breath or hyperventilate- that could explain your breathing problems. Try focusing on your breathing and taking slow deep breaths before you orgasm- see if it helps.

and if you're really worried about it, have a doc take a look (hear) of your lungs. maybe there's something more going on than you know?

fiunny you should mention my doctor. He has been hounding me for a while to have a chest x-ray. I'm nervous about that since my husband died a few years ago from lung cancer, I'm just too skittish when it comes to having my chest x-rayed.

do it! at least if everything comes back okay it's one less thing you will have to worry about. if it doesn't come back with great results, then maybe its something simple that can be treated and help you in the long run. i dont' know how much you smoke, but maybe try to cut it down a little bit. cut about a pack out a week? i know it's a bit to ask, especially if you have been smoking for a while, but please, do something to try to get your body doing what it should...being healthy so you can enjoy your life.

I agree. If you ignore a problem, it won't go away, it will only get worse faster. You know what I mean?

I am having the same problem...it first started with a really terrible headache. I have had 2 major attacks with my breathing, and I really thought I was going to die. The first major one I couldn't even call for help. It wasn't during sex, and the Dr. told me he thought it might be a seizure. I smoke and have severe RA. I take lots of meds and a shot every week. Really don't even know where to start, but scared to death.
