Hopefully it was just a temporary thing,
she should go to the doctor soon and we
shall see what happens.

This is a curious tale and I wonder what
the doctor said. My friend went to Italy
and when she returned she was behaving
oddly, with amnesiac episodes as well as
psychotic behaviour (hearing voices,
talking to herself, losing all sense of
judgement, obsessing over clothes she had
previously discarded, making strange
violent threats to her mother etc). All
this was completely out of character. Her
doctor thought she might have been spiked
with a drug as she was in young, mixed
company (she was 25) but after hospital
referral and a traumatic total breakdown
it transpired that she was suffering from
a latent brain chemistry disorder. She
received the correct medical treatment and
seems almost 100% fine now! It seems that
there probably had been some drug misuse
which had triggered the underlying
condition but she had no recollection of
the holiday so could not say what had
happened.
I am not suggesting that your mother's
condiditon is anything like this but it
was the reference to the sudden amnesia
that brought my friend's case to mind. I
would think at 53 dementia would be the
last thing I would think of.
Please let us know her diagnosis.

Any update on the doctor's visit? I'm
curious to know if there was a resolution.

She went to the doctor and he said he
didn't know whats wrong and she seemed
fine, but he wants her to get an MRI. She
seemed fine ever swince, but I guess the
MRI will tell more.
