Dr Visit Results Improved!
Well, I went to my ENT Dr. and he sent the micrscope down my nose into my throat and saw that it was full of white spots and was red 'like someone had painted it red" and swollen up.

He said he didn't know for sure without taking a biopsy, but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck then lets assume it's a duck and treat it.

He said because my tongue was white and my throat had been through a virus attack (ulcers) that didn't heal with Anti Viral medication, (one days worth is all!) then it set up housekeeping as a Fungal Infection, called Candidia. Just as I thought!

He perscribed me 8 days worth of an AntiFungal called Fluconazole 100 mg. and a liquid pain killer called Hyda/Acet/ aka Lortab, 1/2 Vicodin 1/2 Tylenol. I needed to start drinking LOTS of WATER too, asap. I was dehydrated, and the throat hurts more being constricted and dry. So even if it hurts DRINK WATER!

As of yesterday I began my treatment, and also was given a book about Candidia by my Mother. There were some good advice for home treatments as well in there. I started taking some of those as well.
I couldn't believe it when I awoke from a nap and was feeling so much better! I ate an APPLE even that day!
We ended up going out to dinner with the Family that night and I actually ate a little bit there too, and felt fine. Very little pain swallowing now.

Today is the 2nd day, and I am feeling about the same still. My throat is becoming MORE whitened even, as it is healing. Less sore more white.
My stomach intenstines also were rolling after the first day of treatment.
Grumbling about the changes that were taking place in their fight to take over. They were now LOOSING the GAME!

I wanted to give you all some advice now about a product in this book about Candidia called: Collostrum Transfer Factor. I actually bought this some time ago, and was taking it daily for intenstinal disfunction. (runs)

It gave me relief within 2 days of taking it. So I need to start taking it again daily. It a miracle product and they reccommend that you take it
when you have Candidia for it is a cure for it.

Also Coconut oil. You need to look into this product as well.
I am taking a few vitamins again, including those mentioned, and lots of water, and when in pain I gargle with Hot Tap Water, salt water (Sea Salt).

It does the trick for my pain now. Don't need any pain killer. Ibuprofen was also perscribed for the swelling and I take Motrin 2 a day for this. It all has brought me to a place of being able to swallow again, and not be in severe pain down into my neck and all through out the throat area. It's just amazing. Dr. didn't think I would be better feeling for 2 days!

I just wanted to post what I found out and follow up here. This is where I found out that this might be Candidia.

Hope you get your cure Soon!

Natural cure - what worked for me when I had oral thrush
I had minor oral thrush, thankfully not huge, but at back of mouth and in throat somewhat.

This is what I did to get rid of it:-

Immediately stopped eating bread, anything with yeast (except the occasional flavoured bag of crisps!), cut out beer, wine, sugar, chocolate, cakes, anything sweetened was much reduced, cut down on cheese, ketchup, and most importantly stress!

Went to health shop: got good quality bacteria tablets which you store in fridge (chewable acidophilus - lacto acido. 90mg, lacto bifi. 25mg combined in one pill) and took 3 to 5 at intervals (not together) daily with a meal but NOT hot water or hot food

and after a few days of seeing no results I also...

took 2 x garlic capsules (equiv to 200mg fresh garlic each)
with breakfast, lunch, dinner

and simultaneously added to my diet...

added fresh from shop garlic clove to soup or meal at least twice a day

and also then...

took good quality multivitamin tablet first thing every morning

and

ate 3 probiotic yogurts a day for 3 days (I recommend Lidl's or Yeo Valley if you live in the UK) although Lidl's has fruit & sugar I think.

I gargled with cider vinegar but didn't find that useful, although I cleaned my tongue with it effectively.

This minor outbreak of oral thrush started to go away 6 to 7 days after taking the good bacteria, and 3 to 4 days after I also introduced the garlic.

The die off of the yeast made me feel a bit unwell, but other than that, no probs.

In my opinion what worked best was the garlic capsules, fresh garlic in my mouth which can 'burn' or tingle in the mouth, and the good bacteria tablets, because I think either the good bacteria tablet eats the yeast or resets the bodies chemistry to make yeast growth hard.

I had had the oral thrush for 6 to 4 weeks before it started to go, but it started to go 7 days after I began the above treatment. Prior to that I'd had some probiotic yogurts only and gargled with that cider vinegar and seen no improvement, in fact more grew.

Some people say something called AZO Yeast (a tablet from health shops) also works, but I don't know of it myself.

I used no medical pharmaceuticals at all in this cure. Just natural stuff.

Hope this helps someone.

Remember, it's a good idea to speak to your doctor to make sure that it is oral thrush and that it is not a symptom of something that needs investigating fully by qualified physicians.

No stress, you can get rid of it, just be patient and then stick to the diet and keep your mouth clean of yeast.

(Might be a coincidence but my outbreak came after I started baking my own bread and perhaps didn't fully bake one so maybe too much yeast on it...)

First of all, let me say THANK YOU to all of you who have posted on this. I actually got tears in my eyes from reading this forum. I have been suffering from this for months on end and am so glad to know that #1-I am NOT alone in this and #2-I know WHAT I'm dealing with and am going to take steps to get rid of it! I have been (mis)diagnosed for the past 8 months with recurring strep throat and ear/sinus infections. I was given 5 different kinds of antibiotics and given courses of prednisone 6 different times....only to have the symptoms never go away and eventually worsen.

It all started with a raw tongue/back of mouth and throat, and eventually got to where I was struggling with swallowing issues...I felt like I couldn't even swallow my own spit without feeling like I was going to suffocate. I also had accompanying ear pain and sinus drainage(something I've had issues with since I was a child)--I have gone back to the Dr. and Convenient Care center over 10 times for these issues. Every time, I was given antibiotics and many times, prednisone too. It wouldn't go away. I feel like my tongue is raw and it always hurts, regardless of what I do or don't eat. I've been doing salt water and/or peroxide gargles/swishes daily, only to get a few seconds of relief, if any. It has gotten to where I go through almost an entire bag of spearamint cough drops daily, just trying to get some relief. One day this week, I thought...you know, I wonder if this could be thrush? But didn't search anything about it til' last night.

My heart goes out to ALL of you who are suffering/have suffered from this...but felt overjoyed to know that I am not crazy, there's a reason these issues are not going away with the prescribed meds. I called my Dr. this morning and of course he's out of town...so his 'assistant' is in charge. She won't prescribe anything for thrush without seeing me, so I called back later and told the nurse that I've been on this Biaxin for 10 days and I've got a terrible yeast infection and could the assistant PLEASE call something in for me. They called in ONE diflucan...which I realize is standard treatment for a vag yeast infection. I figure this is atleast HOPEFULLY a good start...I will see my Dr. on Monday and show him the big blisters I found last night when looking WAY in the back...and hopefully he'll give me a longer course of diflucan and/or maybe the nistatin swish you guys have mentioned above. Anyway, sorry for rambling...but I am a cancer survivor(3 times)and feel like I've had enough pain and issues...I'm ready to get rid of this awful throat/tongue and ear/sinus pain...as well as the terrible drag on my system lately--I don't want to get out of bed half the time! Thank you ALL for all of the info you've posted here. I am forever grateful!

Have a blessed weekend!

my symptoms
It started on a Wednesday morning with a sore throat. I throat began to feel slightly constricted but I figured I was just a little sick and it would go away. Eating was quite difficult on friday and saturday. On Sunday morning it was the worst. I felt so strange that I put my finger in my throat and then rushed to the bathroom mirror to discover huge palatine tonsils nearly touching covered with with white pits! I went to my PCP that day. We tested me for strep, it was negative. Had me get blood work to check for mono, it was negative and my WBC was only slightly elevated. I called back after about 3 weeks and said ya know this isn't going away. After that terrible Sunday the swelling went down only slightly. The white is gone but the craters are still present. I never had any fever, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. I called back again and they said to wait it out another two weeks. I really feel like they just dont care at this point. After reading these posts Im going to call again tomorrow and demand another appointment and get some sort of treatment. Thanks so much everyone.

what could be my problem? white tongue, bumps on tongue, etc
I've had some symptoms for a while and I'd like someone else's opinion on them.

First I guess I should mention that I'm a 28 year old male. I haven't had any sort of sexual contact in a little over 6 months, and before that it was about a year. I haven't had a STD screen since them but I'm starting to worry.

During the last year and a half or so, I feel TEN TIMES older than I used to! The back of my tongue is constantly coated. Not big, cottage cheese looking stuff but always plaquey and it kinda stinks sometimes.
Once in a while I get an earache, but it only seems to happen in my right ear. Also, my neck isn't swollen anywhere but it FEELS like something is swollen. Once again, that's on the right side, halfway between my voice box and the hinge of my jaw next to my earlobe.

I don't have any tooth pain. I do have a couple large bumps way back on my tongue though. They don't hurt unless I am brushing my tongue a little too roughly. I've never noticed them bleed or anything, but they definitely hurt after being scrubbed!

Every single day I wake up and my tongue looks the same. I'm a light smoker, trying to quit, and I am a moderate drinker. Maybe 2-3 beers an evening when I get home from work, sometimes. Other times I'll go several days without any alcohol.

The weirdest symptom of all is my eyes. The whole area around both of my eyes is very dark, it looks like black eyes from fighting, after healing for a few days. Kinda blue-ish in tint. And my blood vessels are very noticeable around the eyes. My eyes themselves are not red, nor do they hurt or itch, but the area underneath my eyes feels hot, dry and itchy. I've tried taking Claritin but it did absolutely nothing, and I haven't been having a runny nose or sneezing so I doubt it's allergies anyway.

When I said that I feel older than ever before, it's because I feel really TIRED all the time lately. Not physically exhausted, just sleepy. It also seems like I have very little interest in doing anything compared to what I used to have.

I have other symptoms which I doubt are related, such as a swollen area on my perineum that comes and goes. It's exactly halfway between my testicles and my anus, and when it's "flaring up" it's hard to start urinating and when I do my flow is weak. I'm also noticing that my hands are frequently tingly, and they they rest at my sides I can see white spots appear on them. When I raise them or start moving around it seems like they fade away.

Does anyone have a clue about what I'm talking about? What would you recommend? I've been to a doctor once and he said that it was nothing, and that I just needed to relax. I do have anxiety problems, and I am grateful he gave me a prescription to Xanax, which I ONLY take when I feel like I need it. But I'm only 28 and I feel like I'm 58.

White tongue, bumps on back of tongue, soreness on right hand side of throat, dark and veiny round-eye areas... what the heck could this be?

Tee Tree Oil Mouthwash helps clear up Thrush!
Not sure if anyone will still be looking at this, but Desert Essence makes a Tee Tree Oil Mouthwash that works really really well at getting rid of thrush. I have used it off and on for a couple years now, whenever symptoms flare. Also if there are times I need to be on Advair or Flovent, I rinse with this after rinsing with water as a preventative measure. I discovered this after trying Nystatin with no results.

My Yeast/Candida Fight
Doctors know a lot...they do... but some things are out of their grasp, simply because they don't know what we're doing to our bodies during the times we are not directly in front of them in their office. Basically, it comes down to something like this for most people who are suffering with this yeast/candida thing. TOO MUCH SUGAR for YOU (or me). Someone else might be fine eating stacks of bread and bowls of pasta or ice cream. But, for YOU (or me) a little is too much. And, if you are EXTREMELY stressed about something in your life and you decide to eat a LOT of ice cream, bread, chocolate milk and fully leaded Coke for a week or so (like me) then you REGRET it. Stress seems to have some sort of impact as well. So I pop a diflucan, and learn to eat things that aren't packed with sugar. Some people are way more sensitive obviously and can't eat ANY sugar, sugar substances or things that convert to sugar in the body. That's been my experience anyway. My current doctor is VERY responsive to this, I had to hunt around to find one - the previous doctors were perplexed. I do plan to try the garlic and some other things I have read on here in order to help my body fight this stuff off as well! In addition, I found that antibacterial stuff that is everywhere now... in hand soap, body wash, toothpaste, etc... ALSO have a HUGE impact on me. I have to be very careful about what I buy. Especially the toothpaste. I search for plain standard no frills paste. Anything fancy that claims to kill the "bad" bacteria in your mouth... will do exactly that - and THEN if you're susceptible to yeast... the yeast will take over because the other bacteria are being constantly eliminated by the tube of toothpaste YOU thought was going to help. At the beginning of my experience... I was confused - I go to the dentist, I have no fillings, no rotting teeth, no missing teeth, I floss at least twice a day, etc etc etc. Then my doctor pointed out that my diet of cherry cokes and sugary cereals and sandwiches and so on - is feeding the yeast that are already there. It's a delicate balance.
