Q: Whole Milk -- Weight Watchers

I'm getting ready to start WW on Tuesday & I'm just trying to gather up all the foods we usually eat to figure out what the points are. I have a huge list here of foods I've found on all different websites but the only one I can't seem to find any points value on is whole milk. I know I should switch to 2% (Blech) but in the meantime I'm going to have to stick with whole milk until we get groceries again.

B or Terra (Or anyone else of course), do you guys know what it would be?

I wish I could have found a food scale yesterday, this is going to be hard without one Sad

I used to drink it a long time ago but then got back into whole milk. I'm going to get 2% the next time we get groceries & just suck it up & deal with it I guess!

lol I don't know what it is, I don't understand the whole points thing. That's why I LOVED doing it online, because there was a calculator there on the side!

lol, I love whole milk! That's what I was guessing was that it'd either be 3-4 points a cup. Thanks! Is there a site somewhere that tells how to do the food measurements without having a scale?

dwlz.com is the best ww site.

here's a list of how to eyeball measurements- http://dwlz.com/WWinfo/wwtidbits.html

you didn't find a scale? they have them at walmart or you could even find one at the grocery store, but you'll probably pay a little more.

Okay another question.. I just found this formula that you're suppose to be able to use to figure out the points on your own.. I'm so confused.

C f min {r, 4}
P = __ __ -- _________
50 12 5

What the heck is THAT all about Shocked

I've got 21pts a day, with 35 a week.
I have officially lost like 4 pounds.
And then I somehow managed to gain 5.
WW has thus far really not worked for me.

I always like soy milk and skim milk. Then I moved in with Mike and had whole milk for the first time...yum. Not, everything else just isn't the same. I only drink milk on my cereal now, and you really can't tell at all when you add in cereal.

I only looked in JcPennys for a scale, in the appliance section but they didn't have any. I'll have to wait til we get paid again to go to Walmart to look. The only reason I looked in JcPennys was because I had a gift card to the mall. I guess I should have looked in Eckerds though, maybe they might have had some.

Ahh Thanks for that website!

c= calories
f= fat
Min {r, 4}= equals...I think its fiber....so however many grams of fiber or 4..whichever is LESS.

Sorry it's not working for you Sad I didn't realize you were doing WW!

I'm confused again though.. I understand you get so many points a day, but what are the points a week, like you say 35 a week? Is that like a reward day where you get extra one day a week?

here's the easy formula-

(calories/50) (fat/7)

that's not precise though because you have to take fiber into account, but i don't know the exact formula for that, this is close though - if there are 3grams or less do nothing, if there are 4grams or more subtract 1 (from the above cal fat formula).

i have the cardboard slider thing, but i use this formula if i'm at the store and see something new. that formula is close enough to what you'd actually get with the slider or calculator.

also, you can get the electronic calculators on ebay for like $20.

You have 35 flex points per week, in addition to your daily allowance. So, if I went to a party and wanted a piece of cake or something, but had already used all of my points for the day, I could use the flex points and still be within my limit for the week.
I used all of my flex points in one day once. I was in NYC and damnit, I wanted that Grey's Papaya hotdog!
You can earn more flex points by exercising. I forget how many I got for an hour and a half of ice skating. You can even earn them by doing housework!

Ok, I think I'm understanding this lol..

I'm looking at a gertrude hawks label right now & there are 200 calories..

So 200/50

Then there's 10 grams of fat

So (200/50) (10/7) = Which would equal 5 right? Wow this is a math lesson all over again Laughing
