i voted bottle. i am sooooo glad finn doesn't get them anymore.

i was going to take his binky too but thought that might be too much change with the baby coming, he's going to have to give up his crib and that's a big deal. also i figure she'll have binkies so he'll want them too. he only gets them at naps and bedtime so it's not a big deal.

Even though she only gets her noonie at naps, bed, and car she still asks for it all the time! For the last 3 days I've given it to her, so I can't imagine the first day without it. We'll probably do bottle. I'll cut her bottles out 1 at a time for a few days before I take them all away. I'm still gonna give her a sippy of milk before bed though. I'll give it to her while I read to her. I hope it works out.

why does she need to give either of them up? She's still young. I don't see what the need is for her to give them up, just cause the new baby is coming...

It doesn't make sense to me

if a toddler can drink from a cup i don't think there's any need to keep them on the bottle. the longer they're on it, the harder it will be to take it away.

ya i say the bottle. its recommended they are off it by 1 and pacis they make sizes for kids up to 18mo. Macy had her paci til she was like 20 mo. If Liam was into them still hed prob just be giving it up.

Max had a bottle at bed time until he was 2 and a half. It was his comfort thing and I didn't want to take that away from him until he was ready. When the time felt right I told him that we were going to have stories at bed time now instead of bottle and he was fine about that. For a couple of nights he said, "Milky?" but there was no mention of it after that.

My opinion is that you shouldn't feel pressured by what you think your child should be doing/eating/drinking/saying by a certain age because every child is unique and not from a text book. Only stop bottles and/or pacifier if your child is ready for it.

Does Ava have a blanket or anything she likes to sleep with?
Adriana's last bottle was the day before she turned 1. When we switched from formula to milk (which she won't even drink) and that's when she started wanting a blanket with a tag to sleep with.

i honestly think the pacifier is a thing to get rid of asap. once they're not "little babies" it's time for them to go..i think it's really bad when "non babies" have them, it looks really bad, and it's not good for their teeth

My only advice would be to have her off of the bottle for as long as possible before the new baby arrives. It is extremely difficult to get them to stop drinking bottles when they see the new baby with one all the time. I can't get Ethan to give the bottle up because he sees Alex drinking them and he steals them when I'm not looking. He only has one for nap time and bed time, but he tries to steal Alex's all day long. Trust me it's a pain.

I def say bottle. Oni was off the bottle COMPLETELY by 10 months.

The paci is another story. She only gets it at nap time, bed time, and in the car. But once she falls asleep I take it from her.

It's hard to say that she can't have one thing, when the new baby can. But it's something we're ALL gonna have to go through when new baby gets here! loL!

So, I'd say start with the bottle. See how she reacts, then think about the nunu.

I hear ya. Oni knows that bottle = baby. But then again, she's been off the bottle now for 10 months.

If I were to take her off the noonie now, she'd be swiping the new baby's constantly!! It'd be a never ending battle!! LOL!!

Yeah, Ava only has the noonie for bed, nap, and the car, but when she had the virus I let her have it b/c she was so cranky. Well, now she's hooked. Also, when she was sick I gave her a bottle instead of the cup b/c she wasn't eating and she's more interested in teh bottle.
Now we're back to square one.
Also, she lost her appetite when sick and hasn't eaten a good meal since. She picks all day and thinks she can eat 8 popscicles a day.

I'm so down about it, but we'll have to start all over again.

That's one of my BIG concerns with Oni. She hasn't eatten anything but cold fruit, jello, and popsicles!! And a cereal bar here and there! Her throat has got to be on fire, so I can understand why she's picky.

I just hope it goes away when she's better!!!

william still has his bottle and will still have it for a while. he loves his bottle of milk and blanket before nap time. but when hes not sleeping he has his juice cup. williams never had the dummy and i'm glad about that

most of us only give them pacifiers at bedtime and naps, it's their soother. i think it's the same as a favorite stuffed animal (a lovey) or a blanket, it helps them go to sleep. it's not like they're walking around 24/7 with a binky hanging out of their mouth.

also, it has no ill effect on their teeth.

I voted bottle! Since Kaylee's been off the bottle it's been SO much easier. I'm slowly taking the binky away but I don't have a set date that I want it to be completely gone. It calms her down & I don't want to take that from her. I'm hoping though by her second birthday she won't be so interested in it anymore. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!!
