I don't know; sometimes that happens to me too. If you're short-of-breath because of it, or if it is more than a 6 or 7 on the pain scale, then go to an ER right away! If you can still focus on daily activities and it's just annoying on the inhale then I personally wouldn't worry. It's most likely a muscle cramp - like a charlie-horse - and it will eventually go away on its own. Pain-killers and a heating pad can help.

yeah you can actually pull a muscle or have a really bad knot in your back and this can cause you to experience pain while breathing. One of my ribs was out of alinement and once it was fixed the chest pain was gone. Is there someone who can give you a really good rub down. Maybe you could find the source of this pain?

Or could be something totally different. If it worsens go to the ER

Not likely if it's on the inhale. Heartburn is a constant feeling, and it's a clear burning sensation. Inhale-chest-pain is more of a stabbing or a twisting. It sucks.

Well then that does sound like heartburn. Take some antacids; preferably the liquid kind so you coat your esophagus with the medicine.

winter_child, I have felt pains like that in my chest several times. I even went to the hospital a few of those times and had all the heart test and xrays etc done. Each time it ended up being inflammation of my chest muscles. There is a name for it but I forget what it is. If the pain is bad go to the ER. They can run tests to make sure its not a heart attack. Even tho you are young they will still run the tests. They did on me when I was 25. If it ends up being just inflammation they can give you meds to help that.
